Its Cold !

Its Cold !

Boy oh Boy !!!, its cold here , even my bubblewrapped Greenhouse hasn’t manage to escape the cold , poor wee plants , im quite annoyed with myself I knew it was going to be cold and I meant to go out and cover them with the fleece at night.
On the bright side the cold weather is certainly pulling in all the wild birds to my garden and my homemade fat cakes are very popular , as you can see in my photo album even the normally shy Woodpecker was happy to get his photo taken just to get a bit of the cake !
Ive noticed some of the bulbs are starting to show signs of growth , I had to go out and replant some this morning as a cat had dug them up , ive put short canes in around the ground where they are to try and put the cat off doing this again , I really dont mind cats but wish they would use there own gardens for a toilet ! not much chance of that though !

Ah ! Happy Gardening !!\

Hi Weemamabell :o) Great photo. I guess you've been having frosty morning for a while up there? Today's the first real frost down here although we've had a few mild ones.

On the subject of deterring cats, I find the sonic cat scarers DO work. Ok, they're a bit pricey, but having had all the neighbourhood cats using my garden as a toilet (cos I have the biggest garden round here with lots of lovely dug soil), I can report that after a couple of years, I am still clear of the little (and not so little) darlings. The trick is to move the scarer round every couple of weeks, else they get used to the no-go area. Eventually they get fed up and go somewhere else

Hello - what a beautiful bird! I've only ever seen one once - in Kent - we often get visits from a pair of green woodpeckers here. Yesterday a pair of Fieldfares came into the garden. I had to look them up in my book, I didn't know what they were! Like you, we are getting a lot more hungry birds on the bird table since it turned colder. Hope your plants are OK.
