Dear GF,
Here are the pictures of the natural beauty of my home in Hawaii. Sorry you missed our beach party. Maybe next time.
Your friend, Nemo, the rooster

Birdfeeder – Kauai. These opportunists usually perch on the backs of cattle and wait for them to scare up critters to eat. This one has his breakfast at the breakfast buffet.

Winter Storm – Kauai. High wave warnings on the north coast.

Gardening – Kauai. Storm broke branches in the palms, this guy is removing them.

Great Frigate Bird – Near Glass Beach, Kauai

Brazilian Cardinal – Kauai

Green Sea Turtle – Black Sand Beach, Hawaii

Butterfly – Hawaii

Nene Goose – Waimea Overlook, Kauai

Volcanic rim mountain eroded by heavy rain, Kauai

Waimea Canyon, from Overlook, Kauai

Red Ginger, Hawaii

Beautiful photo,s,thankyou for sharing.......

Nemo - Thanks for the blog. Judging from your photos this place is strictly for the birds, turtles or tree climbers. I didn't come on here to see lovely fauna, natural wonders and magnificent wild life taken by a skilled photographer. I was looking forward to seeing your visitors dancing the hula hula in their grass skirts after drinking Mai Tais. Oh well I wonder if they do a good chicken in the basket meal on Kauai!

Super photos Nemo. I was in Kauai in 1997 with my daughter. The island was full of colour and the plants and birds were fantastic. We had Hawiian seals on the beach at our hotel and even did a helecopter tour over the island. Those mountains were something else !! Lovely memories.

Gilli, I had that picture enlarged and it's hanging over my fireplace. :-)

Cat, that frigate bird was a site to see. He posed and preened for me for several minutes. I had never seen one before.

Blodyn, I have a fascination for rocks. These are even more dramatic in "person".

Spritz, even the trip back through my photo files brought back pleasant memories.

Wohli, so many beautiful birds over there that were too quick to photograph. The doves joined us every morning for coffee on the lanai. The cattle egret above begged for breakfast a few feet from our table.

Hilly, These photos were taken several years ago, in February. We took the helicopter tour too, it's the best way to see these mountains.

GF, Skilled photographer? Whew GF, never thought I'd hear such high praise coming from you. I'm flattered, I feel a crow coming on. Doodle, doodle doodle do!

If you want pictures of the ladies in their hula skirts you'll have to make the trip yourself. My interests in dancers lean toward feathers not grass skirts. ;-) I have some nice pictures of some pullets I could post...

Must run, they're preparing the luau, and if I don't run now I'll be part of it. :-< Doodle-oo. Nemo

Fabulous photo's. Lovely to see the views and wildlife in your part of the world. Thank you!

Thanks Clarice.

Bonkers, glad you liked the pictures.

Potty, This is actually Nemo, the Rooster's part of the world. Lots of domestic chickens were released by a hurricane many years ago in Kauai, now they live in the wild. Many of them are as beautiful as the tropical birds that are natural to Kauai. The "Nemo Saga" plays out in my pictures- "Rooster for Donnah". The real Weeds lives in Washington State, where it's not a bit like Hawaii.

Nemo - I didn't want to see photos of Hawaian girls in their grass skirts, I wanted to see Queen Catfinch and Princesses Weeds and Gilli. Surely you got them dancing the funky chicken or did they have too many Mai Tais with Pele?

18 Feb, 2009

Well now there would be a sight to behold...LOL...

18 Feb, 2009

GF, So sorry, all of those beautiful photos of the Queen and her court dancing were confiscated by the DOHHH. (Department of Hawaiian Hula Hula) They were afraid that once the tourists saw these three superb dancers they would never be satisfied with mortal hula dancers again.
A thing like that could ruin their tourist trade forever.
If you like the funky chicken, I have some photos of friends and family dancing. Nemo

Dotty,
Thank you. The rocks really are are breathtaking.

19 Feb, 2009

Wow what scenery! thanks for posting this took me away from this dank dark day!

19 Feb, 2009

Sewing, there are a lot of dark days going around lately! Every little bit of brightness helps.

Aloha !

Just wanted to say "Many, Many thanks, for this wonderful blog, and scenes ! - X

22 Feb, 2009

Aloha,
:-) You're welcome. Eventually I'll have some pictures out of my own garden to post. Its raining this evening, the snow is melting very quickly! Exciting!

23 Feb, 2009

Good to hear this Sisty!!!!...I cannot wait for you to see lots of green everywhere...!

23 Feb, 2009

Me too. don't ever remember being this anxious for spring to get here. I think GoY motivates me. Seeing their pix makes me itch to start scratching in the dirt.

23 Feb, 2009

Me too..I actually managed to weed out my rock garden..there are some of your violets blooming there!..need to remember to put out deer scare away powder or they will have them..they love those violets...!

23 Feb, 2009

Don't remember the deer eating my violets. Maybe the white tail deer who live here are more finicky than your coast deer..(black tails?) I probably just didn't notice cause there were so many of those violets, Have lots more deer problems up here than I had down there. They really like the red and yellow osier dogwood bushes. I think they pruned my snowball bush too.

23 Feb, 2009

They have probably been eating everything they can find with all that deep snow...may not be that bad next winter if there is less snow....yes we have the little black tails...and they are so tame here..it is a crime...I tell ya.

23 Feb, 2009

Wow Weeds....these are wonderful pics....really enjoyed them....lovely close up bird pics...Roly is studying them now...dreaming of his hols! lol

24 Feb, 2009

Tell Roly, theres no place like Hawaii to put a smile on your face.

24 Feb, 2009

What gate do we board from? I'm ready to go!

24 Feb, 2009

Your avatar looks like you're already there! My middle son and his wife went to a manager's meeting over there a couple of weeks ago, and brought back more pictures. Looking at his pix made me ache to go back. Maybe someday...
