Morning Visitors

Nice to see Goldfinches in your garden. I haven't seen any since I moved here.

They are tricky to capture because they dont hang around! Lovely birds though. We had some a few weeks ago, but they have moved on now.

We too have loads of Goldfinches, but as you say they come readily to the feeders but are so quick it's difficult to catch them on camera. Hopefully they are nesting somewhere in the garden, there's certainly plenty of places for them to nest. They love the sunflower hearts and we have a huge bed of teasels on the field grown especially for them!

Ours love sunflower hearts too - better to deal with than nyjer too. They must be one of the prettiest British birds don't you think? They aren't easy to photograph are they - they fly away at the slightest movement.
We have had a lot fewer birds this year since a pair of magpies nested in one of the sycamores. They even ganged up on the cat.

We've had as many as 8 in one go...known as a 'Charm' I believe. We seem to have had lots of new birds to the feeder this year...Green finches, Bull finch, Great Tits, Coal Tits, Blue tits, the usual sparrows, starlings and black bird, but the other morning I was thrilled to see a Greater Spotted Woodpecker tucking in :))

we regularly have a pair flitting about. I think they are very charismatic.

They are lovely birds, really colourful, we used to have a lot but sadly no longer visit our garden...
