My OH and I have just returned from a few days away and I thought you might like to see some of the sights we enjoyed.

We began by going for Brunch at a super Garden centre, which one or two of you might recognise. I loved the Christmas displays.

I’ve never heard of these, but I had to try one and it was quite tasty. I might have to get one now

A Halloween doorstep display.

So many different gifts surely there’s something here for everyone’s Christmas gifts.

A comfy bed, just what we needed after travelling through lots of rain, we were ready for a goodnight’s sleep

When we woke on the first day, it looked like the rain was going to continue, so we decided to visit the Natureland. I wasn’t keen on the bugs, but the seals and penguins were fun and I could have stayed in the butterfly house all day. It was magic!

I’m sure you’ve had enough for now…I hope you’re not too bored. Have you worked out were we were?

where is the garden centre Waddy? Skegness isn't a million miles away from where I am. Its a good day out for us.

I've no idea where it is! Looks like you had a good day out & like you I didn't like some of the bugs much but enjoyed all the rest.thanks for sharing your visit.

No, I don't have a clue either. But I loved the butterfly pics. :)

Those places must be very complicated to run, staff need
to be trained before all the different species of wildlife
are brought in. Hope you bought some plants.
Thank you for sharing your holiday with us.

Waddy visited a garden centre and then the Skegness animal sanctuary and they do have staff trained for the different animal types. a possible future career for my youngest girl if all goes to plan.

SPG; The garden centre was at Brigg. We have visited before and I think it's perhaps one of the best GC I've been to, so much to see and tempt the purse strings lol!

FF; The Natureland was in Skegness. The staff were obviously well trained as there were school groups there when we visited and the children were all asking lots of questions all of which I may add were answered fully and with clear knowledge.

DB; No I didn't buy any plants this time, as they would have had to remain in the car until we got back...but there's always next time lol!

CK; So did I. I could have stayed there all day, they were fantastic.

I thought I recognised that garden centre, and then looked at the animals and thought that looks like skeggy but was none too sure as it is years since we took the girls to that one at Skegness. The garden centre gets visited on a regular basis, lots of gift ideas there. Lovely food too in the café, glad you enjoyed your visit to our part of the country. Off there soon when Sarah is on maternity leave, before 'baby pink is born', she will want a look around before she is less able. Getting to be a big bump now, so exciting only six weeks to go before the birth. I actually bought a pink wooden train set from the garden centre the last time I was there. lol. I had to have a play when I got home lol

It's a small world isn't it? We've also got a pink bump due on 1st Nov, a little sister for Freya ...a pink train sounds just the ticket, but might have to buy two lol!

how lovely a baby sister for Freya, she will be loved very much. :o)

I hadn't a clue where it was Waddy ,I'm guessing it's way out of our area but I enjoyed looking through your wonderful photos you must have spent some happy days looking round all of those centers ,I'm glad you enjoyed your break :o)

I recognised Brigg,Waddy..It's a shame you didn't get in touch with Rose,as she lives almost on the doorstep.! do you remember we met up there,a couple of years ago ? A super place, isn't it? I guessed Skeggie,as I knew you were staying there, but last time,we only went to the Seal Sanctuary in Mablethorpe...yours looked more interesting ...So glad you had a good time..how was the weather?

13 Oct, 2014

I'd no idea where it was, but its huge isn't it? I loved the butterflies too. You did well to resist buying anything!

13 Oct, 2014

I knew it was Skeggie Natureland, I love it there and used to visit regularly but now the grandkids are teenagers we didn't get to tag along this year, I didn't recognize the GC but have been there with my son and daughter-in-law and can remember being impressed, lots of folk grumble about the xmas displays but I personally like to see them and enjoy having a good luck around.....
Thanks Waddy especially for showing Natureland, I feel as though I haven't missed out this year now......

I really enjoyed your blog very much. I'm still hooked on the Polar Bears - they seem so life-like. How brilliant to have brunch at the Garden Center. You've made the best of rainy weather!! :)

13 Oct, 2014

I'm glad you had a nice break.
I enjoyed seeing the animals and especially the cacti and under water views :)

So glad you enjoyed our few days away, so far.

Bloomer,I would have got in touch with one or two GoY members when I visited Brigg, if I'd been on my own, but I don't think my husband would have been too pleased if he'd had to listen to a lot of gossiping gardeners on the first day of his break! Perhaps next time.

Lincslass; We had no children with us, but we still enjoyed every minute. Perhaps you should go again, without the Grandchildren.

Bathgate; Some of them were sooo cute...which of course the real ones are anything but!

Hywel; Glad you enjoyed the pics. I thought of you when I took the pictures of the cacti, I thought you might recognise one or two.

15 Oct, 2014

I did recognise the big Euphorbia in the front. I've got one of those ...
and the tall Cleistocactus and Cereus. There were some nice Opuntias there too :)

15 Oct, 2014

We were at Brigg garden centre just last week!!!! ,I love that horse always have to have a drool over it, not been to Skeggy for years though, since the girls were little.
Glad you enjoyed your visit to our corner of the country:-)
Great pictures :-)

15 Oct, 2014

It does you good to have a break Waddy and the GC looked as if it had plenty on offer very tempting especially with the new baby on the way.

15 Oct, 2014

Simbad; I loved the horse too, but a bit pricy for my taste, even if I had room for it! I seems also seems there are a lot of GoY members who live it that neck of the woods. I think GC get together is called for the spring. Oliveoil has plans I believe :)

Stoller; You're so right I hadn't realised how humdrum things had become.

17 Oct, 2014

I think the Skegness Natureland Seal Sanctuary sign was a bit of a giveaway to me! Lovely blog Waddy, especially the beautiful Butterflies. Thanks for sharing with us. :o)

17 Oct, 2014

Lol! Well done Shirley, but I don't think everyone else was as eagle eyed as you...go to the top of the class and give the pencils out!

17 Oct, 2014

Lol Waddy ... too busy being a milk monitor!

18 Oct, 2014

lol!

19 Oct, 2014

Wow, what a marvellous holiday you had. Just the sort I always enjoy, plants, animals and lots to see! I saw the Red Candy plant at my local GC today but didn't buy but I was tempted!

23 Oct, 2014

Thanks Gee, we're even talking about when we'll be going back!
Not seen any Red Candy plants in my GC nearer home...a good excuse to go again don't you think?
