Baking with Grandma

We were looking after our granddaughter the other day and as it was pouring with rain we decided to have a baking session.
Freya helped to make Chocolate Cookies, which as you can see was great fun. Sorry I can’t show you the finished products…someone managed to eat them all…now I wonder who that could have been?

Baking with Grandma can be very messy

I wonder what this tastes like?

Perhaps I should make sure..

Here goes…

Mmmm, not bad..

Sorry, but there’s not enough for you too..

Oh, there’s a bit I missed…

I have to admit, we were all having a good laugh!

I loved those days, both my grandchildren loved pastry making, I used to make a replica of whatever they had made so as they could eat what they thought were their own creations..
Lovely photo's Waddy...

That's a wonderful blog, Waddy! Reminds me of when our granddaughter helps me to make crumble for whatever cake I'm making! She helped me on a couple of occasions during the school holidays. I'll probably be making some apple & blackcurrant crumbles during the half term holidays as she will be spending most of her holidays with us.

As chance would have it my wife booked her holidays not knowing when the school holidays were in October & therefore she will also be at home most of the week with us.

What a moment to treasure for both of you. The bond between the generations is being well nurtured.

Isn't it nice to see the kids enjoying themselves :o)
My grampa was a baker, and he would often bake things in the house e.g. at Christmas time etc .... but we were NEVER allowed in the kitchen at those times :o(
"Get out from there - Grampa is baking !" ... that's what we were told LOL :D ... and I used to peep in through the keyhole to see what he was doing.
Things are so different these days, and I'm happy to see Freya having a good time :o)) It's wonderful !

Scottish; She's already had a lick of the spatula when baking with her Mum lol!

Lincslass; Iused to that with her Dad..we had some very strange creations for Daddy when he got home!

Bloomer; Yes I remember you buying yours. There should have been 12 cookies, but we only managed 8. She enjoyed eating the leftover 'stickers' The pinny actually belongs to Granddad lol!

Balcony; It's wonderful isn't it when they help...no matter how it turns out. I take it you're the cook in your household? Enjoy the October hols!

Scotgran; Thank you, what a nice way of putting it. I never thought of it like that :)

Hywel; What a shame you weren't allowed to 'help' Grampa doesn't know what he missed. I'm glad things are different in our house. The three of us all had a great laugh. Someone told me before Freya was born, that the best way to get on with your Grandchildren was to be fun. As you can see I'm doing my best :0

My daughter has just started child minding. She has a 2 year old girl all day on a Wednesday. Her son aged 5, who loves baking, is now instructing 'his apprentice' on the wonderful art of baking when he comes home from school. The wee one was rather timid with other children but she has fallen under his spell and he loves it. Your Grandpa missed out on all the fun Hywel. My OH and I both had fun Grandpas but our children had no Grandpas but lots of Grand Uncles who spoiled them rotten.

Glad to see that you were keeping up with the true traditions of grandmas!!! Give them a great time and let them make a mess too!!!

She obviously enjoyed every moment and they are really lovely pictures.

What a delight to see, Freya looks as if she enjoyed the whole session and the cake mixture too . My little Great Grandaughter has just had a baking session with her Mum will see if I can get a couple pictures, she is around the same age as Freya;0)
