Catch up

Oh my goodness, you were all so right about the difficulties of catching up. Sifting through 157 emails took for ever!
I’ve had a quick look at what you’ve all been up to, but I’ve missed the chance to comment on so many that all I can say is ’aren’t you a busy lot?’
The weather is still very hit and miss here, but somethings haven’t faired too badly. What I have noticed is the number of really big, fat slugs and snails ugh! I’ve gone out on nightly patrols, but there are still loads about. I’m not normally squeemish but I really hate these blighters.
So, here are a pictures to bring you up to date with my ‘little patch’. and family

My granddaughter, Freya. As you can see, now walking

She likes nothing better than to ‘talk’ on the mobile phone!

Never having really liked the old water feature and after picking up an idea from watching Titchmarch…it had to go

So out with the old

In with the new.

Hope you like the new idea!

Ethel has finally begun to flower

And she smells wonderful

The approach to the house isn’t looking too bad now.

And ‘Henry’ is ejoying a day out in the sun!

A view from the ‘patio’

The view from the conservatory, during a brief shower.

Hope it stops soon.

And now just some general pics for you to enjoy…I hope!

Masses of colour there - Henry's looking in tip top form I must say. I note your granddaughter is starting as she means to go on - most of us females can talk for England, they should make it an Olympic sport, lol

Loads of lovely colour, and I do like your new water feature. I think we are growing the same Brugmansia, why is it called Ethel? any special reason.....
Henry and Freya are stars in their own right....

He wants an iphone Bloomer....wonder what the technology will be when he's a teenager..........

Lol, I think you're right Bamboo, I'm sure Team GB, could get Gold!
Thanks for the positive comments on the colour. I once had a 'friend' who thought lots of colour was 'common'. I'm glad I disregarded her thoughts.
Dotty; the Brugmansia is my husband's only contribution to the garden (apart from the lawn) as he can't normally tell a weed from a rose. He spotted this as a twig in a local Garden Centre and wanted to have a go. As you can see with success, however he can never remember what it's called hence 'Ethel' The next challenge will be over-wintering.
I agree with you Bloomer, a lovely age. She's not past the 'hello' stage yet...or at least not what we can understand! She now 16months, how old is Thomas? I love looking after her now and again and playing silly games which only Grandparents are allowed, if you get my drift.
As for the technology Pamg..even the toys today seem to be too advanced for me! The mind boggles what the next 20yrs will bring.

Isn't it great to be able to do all the daft things with them ? :o)Thomas was two in April..and we can understand most of his chat now..and he is stringing sentences together..On Wednesday,I was laughing at him,and he said.."What happened in your mouth " ? .with his face about an inch away....saw some fillings in my back teeth ! Lol...oh,joy..embarrassment time looms ! :o)

LOL, Bloomer - I've never forgotten my sister's second child, at 3 years old, being lovingly cradled on her father's lap; she stroked his face gently and said 'daddy, your face needs ironing'...

Out of the mouths of Babes,Bamboo ! Priceless, aren't they? He also tells everyone on the phone,"Daddy is on the toilet" whether he is or not ! Lol.

When my son brought home his first 'essay' abouit his family, with pictorial representations, there was a drawing of witch with long, tatty hair, with a stick (fag) coming out of its mouth, clutching a telephone receiver, which was, apparently, his mum, who smoked and talked on the phone a lot (true) and who gave them bread and water when they got home from school... (sandwich and squash, actually, dear...) Fortunately, I don't suffer too much from embarrassment, but I did cringe a bit, lol

Your garden is almost as lovely as your little grand-daughter, Waddy. I take it Henry is the delightful classic car. I think my most embarrassing moment with my children was when at church with Sam, aged 2 and Rosanna, a couple of months. As with all outings involving small children/babies, I had the usual bag of paraphernalia with me. Sam was rummaging around and loudly announced,' Look, I'm the Pope!', whereupon the little old lady in front of us turned to see him pointing to his head which was now adorned with one of my breast pads!! I could have died of shame.

LOL, that's so funny, TB... though I guess it really wasn't at the time!

Yes, it was funny after the event!

I am sure your OH must know, but just in case he does not, the Brugmansia is very poisonous (re granddaughter Freya) we have three Brugs on the go at the moment and have to watch our youngest grandchild Edward like a hawk, as he is always touching things that he should not!! hope you don't mind me saying.

A very beautiful garden. I love your water feature.
Love your car too. Much more character than these modern ones :o)

Thank you Hywel. I like this water feature much more. We've only got a small garden, so not much room for anything larger, plus got to be careful not to have something Freya could fall into. Our old car 'Henry' is lovely, he has that wonderful 'old car' smell if you know what I mean.
Comments from so many of you about our embarrasing kids started quite a discusion over dinner this evening, and lots of laughter as we recalled different incidents.

Yes I remember my dad's first old car when I was 10 - a green ford prefect lol and it had a lovely car smell ... and a nice face that greeted you :o)
