Moving

We are moving!
I am to say good by to my garden of the last 6 years and I am getting another one which at the moment is just lawn, so I can start again.

This is the garden I am leaving behind, but before I go I am busy digging up some choice plants that I want to take with me before we get the estate agents round for a look.
The house we are leaving is a modest 3 bed semi 1950’s style with a bay window front, the house we are moving too is this one.

It has a small courtyard back garden but a very large front garden probably 4-5 times the size of my backgarden now. It is suituated in a small village in the north of Hampshire.

So it means that I get to start again with a blank canvas. I will keep you all in touch of my progress.

Not only a blank cnvas but a much bigger one; you can paint on a much larger scale. Of course, it'll take a much longer time to fill and use a lot more materials, but what artist wouldn't have a zillion plans on how to fill it?

All good wishes for a move that's smooth and light on stress (I won't say free of stress, that's not possible!)

I know how hard it is to leave behind a garden you love but once you've moved you'll only look forward and have a whale of a time making it 'your' garden. Your new house looks lovely and I wish you luck with the move. I live in Berkshire very near the Hampshire border so probably not far from you.

Exciting times ahead then, Dan! ... Will you stay on as Chairman of the Gardening Club? I love the look of the new house ... is that a Wisteria climbing on the wall .......

I'm afraid I wont be staying as chairman of the club, as the move is a good 45 mins away. We have a committe meeting next week when those that dont know will, but news travels fast so they probably do now.
It's a shame leaving a garden and a house you have enjoyed living in but we are only custodions. There are some plants I am taking, mainly ferns and my two tree ferns (will do well in the courtyard) my boxes that I have pretty much grown from cuttings a few different primulas along with some of my more cottage type plants as I am busy creating my new garden in my head before I even get there.

Do I take all my willow cuttings that are already rooting in the water tank? I could make a willow tunnel this time?
I will dig up my to fastigate yews and a few other choice conifers along with a few roses that we want to keep.

I dont think I mentioned that this move is part of a new job. The cottage is part of the position as it is a 3 acre garden that I will be looking after for a day job.
I cant wait....

Sorry it is wisteria that needs a bit of prune, at the moment it is in full leaf, but it will be interesting to see if it flowers next spring.

You'll be missed at the club, Dan, but sometimes you have to move on, literally in your case! ... Good idea to take those plants with you ... I can't help with the willow cuttings query but somebody on here will advise you ... and how wonderful to be looking after a 3 acre garden ... wish you well ... :o)))
