Nice place for bums, homemade of course.

Well here it is and what a lovely piece of work.

For those of you that watched Gardeners world on Friday, you will instantly recognise it.

I had a spare pallet and few spare hours so I thought I would make a bench just like Joe Swift’s.

Obviously it isnt going to win any good look competition but its free, recycled and practicle.

There is info on how to make it on the gardeners world web pages I believe. I say believe as I made mine from memory and I dont want to look at the web pages incase Ive done it wrong and theres looks better.

Of course I could make them for you at huge inflated prices, but wheres the fun in not making your own.

I did see the programme and thought what a great idea it was. Lovely to see that it actually works and wasn't a 'here is one I made earlier' thing! Well done :)

Nice seat, are you going to stain or paint it or leave it to weather great job :o) love your arch did you make that too?

6 Aug, 2010

I was thinking about staining it but then I thought it might look better weathered and natural. The table and other benches are natural but I do teak oil them early in the year.
The arch, that was a purchase I wish I was clever enough to build/ weld one.

Ah thanks it would be good to be multi talented T&T :o) Teak Oil is a good protection but whatever you do it's a great seat :o)

The internal gaps look just wide enough to store bottles of wine. You just need to add sides and a hinged seat lid?
