The 11 day Easter break ...... for some..!!!

Hello again everyone.

Just thought i would add some photo’s to update on the garden revamp so far.

Remember this ……..

In my earlier blog i said that i didn’t quite know what i was going to do with it but that the decking had to go.

Well …… after a few days hard work …….

This was the recorded temperature at 3pm on one of the days that i was laying it…………….

So, suffering from sun stroke and with that job mostly done … apart from extending it out further to incorporate a rockery and a water feature of some kind …. i thought that i would take it easy and relax in the sunshine for the remainder of the holiday…..

WRONG ………

…………..unfortunately, OH had other ideas

Remember this from the day we moved in pictures….

Well ……. after much head scratching, i decided to remove all of the shingle …. not thrown it out mind you …. i wheelbarrowed it all to the back of the garden in case i need it for another project in the future.

Then i started to dig under the window … back breaking … almost solid clay and bone dry because we haven’t had any rain at all now for nearly 7 weeks.

I decided that i would use an old trick and mix some of my sharp sand with general purpose compost and dig that in with it to make a better quality of soil to work with.

You can see the difference in the soil quality under the bay window where i havent really mixed any decent soil with it ….

Anyway …. having dug a bit and deciding that it was too much like hard work in all that heat i started laying out some paviers to form some edging …….

Got slightly carried away ………

Next weekends job is to re shingle the pathway with a weed fabric underneath and then dig out and redo all of the garden area so that we can get some of the plants that are coming on nicely in the greenhouse, out into the garden.

And just in case you wondered if i had any fun at all over the 11 day holiday ………..

I put up our fourth bedroom in the garden with it’s ensuite swimming pool because most of the family decided to descend upon us for the Good Friday through to the Easter monday….. and only having 2 useable bedrooms thats quite a feat.

Olympic size pool of course….

….. and so to bed

So now all i need is good holiday to get over my holiday ….

Catch you all later……..

What a load of heavy work! And all in high temperatures! I salute you - Bright sunshine and temps of 25 degrees plus and I head for shade and a chair! The garden looks lovely and it was obviously enjoyed by all - except maybe the furry one who looks rather fed up?

Thank you all for your usual kind comments.

The rain we had over this last weekend has made it a lot easier to get the weeding done in the back garden beds so have been catching up with that this weekend.

I will put up more pics as i take them over the next few weeks.
