Don't know if this may help some members.

I have just discovered a new tool that may or may not help some members who are not getting on with the new format on this site. I’m no p c expert and hope i won’t insult members that are a " wiz " with computers!

In the very top bar on my p c, i found this -:

Compatibility View: websites will often look better, and problems such as out-of-place menus, images, or text will be corrected.

The icon for this facility is a picture of what looks like a torn sheet of paper!

It certainly takes out the blue that so many people seem to hate. Hope this may help and i’m not going to look too silly!!

Mine is next to the "refresh" Seaburngirl...top right on my screen, if that helps....

Thanks Tiger - it's toned down the brightness of the blue on my screen. Much better !

Sorry Bloomer, i fear i'm starting to mis-lead everyone already - i am using a laptop too! You should have these " buttons ". Just wish i could make myself clearer Lol!

I'm on a notebook Tiger & can't see what you mean.
I'd ask comp. lit. hubby tomorrow ... he's gone to bed

No need to apologise Tiger...I'll ask my daughter to show me,when she comes...she has to do that a lot.Lol...

I think this all depends on which browser you are using. I certainly don't have it on Google Chrome. I have found that by enlarging my screen image it reduces the blue and dims the glare from the white. I really can't figure out why that is but if it works it'll do for me! Lol

As far as i am aware Ian digs v2, i'm on Google aswell! Lol.

15 Oct, 2010

Hi Tiger, please just call me Ian, it'll save you loads of time! Lol :~))

Its on the bar starting with the back/forward button, then the little green tree growsonyou.com, blue v then the torn-sheet drawn in green
Thanks Tiger.

Bloomer....the refresh icon on my computer is on the left side near the top (it's a part circle in blue with an arrow at one end)...don't know if that helps?

I can't find the torn-sheet that people are finding...any more clues to it's whereabouts. I'm on a laptop and using Google.

I've got an IT consultant for a son-in-law so I'm sure he'll dig me out of this and sort it for me if the colour doesn't revert. Ta.

I have seen it next to my refresh button before too, but it isn't there today...

Yippee,I've found it..mine is a half circle in blue tooW.lass..and like you,no torn bit of paper.I'm using google too..Don't know if its by trying it,or if Ajay has had it toned down, but the text looks more grey than black now,and much softer to the eye when reading blogs and comments.. thank you anyway, and also to you tiger for suggesting it...at least
I have found another icon,I didn't know about...a few more to go though,as I don't experiment much,as I'm afraid of
never finding my way back....such a wimp! Lol

I found the torn paper and clicked on it. some words appeared in a sort of balloon and then disappeared again, but there's no change.
Thanks for trying, but it still looks the same. It still has that drab and depressing look :o((

It's good to see many of you are now trying!! A mixed response, i'm just sorry i can't be more specific!

If nothing else at least people are now aware that with a bit of practise you can customise your P C's to suit your own tastes.

Hywel,- keep trying, hate to think you would get fed up and stop sharing your wonderful pics and blogs with us!!!

Tiger you could photograph your screen and then show us where it is? is that possible I cannot find it.

16 Oct, 2010

It was early this morning when I commented about finding the half circle blue icon at the top left hand side, next to the back and forward button, and I have just logged on again..4.30pm,and the more muted shade of grey writing is still there.Even though the background is still white,it is so much better, and I am happy with that.I am on firefox,if that helps. As I am typing, this is still black, but that is better for me....Hope this may help you,Dd2...I don't have the torn paper on mine,so maybe you have the blue half circle too...
Good luck..
