Rebuilding It Ourselves

……………………………………………

Last winter’s wet weather produced lush growth.

This pic shows my back garden’s north-facing fence …

Plenty of green. Everything is flowering well …

……………………………………………………………………..

On the opposite side, is my paved dog-run area.

My dogs like to sunbathe there while I mow or paint.

But the recent rains hastened the decay of the panels

Conker and Truffle are wearing their serious faces …

… lots of carpentry to be done over coming weeks !

……………………………………………………………………..

Emergency repairs were put in place …

… slats tied together with strings …

But sparrows kept stealing the string for their nests !

Time to assemble the tools …

……………………………………………………………………..

Team Terra is ready for the tasks ahead …

We might not always do things the traditional way …

but we work together happily …

… nobody nearby being cross or angry with us.

……………………………………………………………………..

Truffle and Conker check the horizontal measurement.

……………………………………………………………………..

There are many slats to cut … any offers of help ?

……………………………………………………………………..

… step forward Truffle with an extra saw …

……………………………………………………………………..

Progress is made … the painting is under way …

……………………………………………………………………..

Conker decides to speed things up with a larger brush.

……………………………………………………………………..

Indoors, Crocus budgie is ready with his whizzer toy …

He’s in charge of reporting on the TV tennis matches …

The whizzer is like two tennis racquets going around …

Crocus says he can play doubles all by himself !

… batting for both sides ;o)

……………………………………………………………………..

The fencing framework is taking shape …

……………………………………………………………………..

… adding the final two slats …

……………………………………………………………………..

Conker appears with a hammer …

… just in case the new panel doesn’t fit well …

……………………………………………………………………..

Truffle says ‘Size matters’ …

……………………………………………………………………..

But … hooray … the new panel fits perfectly !

……………………………………………………………………..

Truffle checks his view from over the top …

……………………………………………………………………..

Good news … he can still see the Wishing Garden …

……………………………………………………………………..

… and the view to Truffle’s right ?

……………………………………………………………………..

… yep, the Pebble Garden is there, as usual …

……………………………………………………………………..

It’s time to look in on Crocus and the tennis …

He’s been keeping score on his doorstep abacus …

Thirty beads all …

……………………………………………………………………..

Evening .. and my garden is quiet and tidy.

Many more panels to make, but that’s for the future.

Must wait till the Team Terra batteries are recharged.

Hard work for Team Terra....my goodness you are a skilled workforce!
lovely job though, very professional β™‘β™₯β™‘

3 Jun, 2014

Job well done and your helpers are still brilliant. Do you hire them out? lol

3 Jun, 2014

Thanks Pam ...
lots more panels to make and replace !

Hi Lijemc .. thank you ...
Helpers would enjoy a trip to London to work for you ;o)

3 Jun, 2014

I'm so impressed! What a professional job team Terra has done there! Garden is looking wonderful too!

3 Jun, 2014

I take my hat off to you, Team Terra! I wouldn't know where/how to start with such a project. Your garden is looking lush and lovely. The gravel garden is particularly pretty, but not a patch on your 3 helpers.

3 Jun, 2014

Hi Karen ... Thanks ..
I'm pleased with the first panel ... but it did take us a long time to make it ... so we could be still working on this project at Christmas !

Thank you Tuesdaybear ...
The 3 helpers send hugs :o)

3 Jun, 2014

The hugs are reciprocated!

3 Jun, 2014

It's all about team work and you and the gang have it down to a T :)
Rome wasn't built in a day TT - you'll get there in the end.

3 Jun, 2014

Hi Angie ..
thanks for the words of encouragement ...
I'm lucky to have such useful helpers :o)

3 Jun, 2014

What?

Great thinking painting it before putting it together - TT is running to even more brain than usual. They have every reason to be proud of their new run.

3 Jun, 2014

Hi terra blooming heck what a wonderful job the doggies made. Crocus in on the act to(LoL). Rocky here gone on strike i am afraid. Great blog.

3 Jun, 2014

Rocky looking for better working conditions and an improved pay deal? Typical Budgie! ;)

3 Jun, 2014

Another great team effort by TT. Yet another splendid blog ...... Conker, Truffles and Crocus seemed to be enjoying the project as well. I must say they are all very versatile and good at multi-tasking. They should all be nearing the end of their apprenticeships soon. The paved dog run is going to look fabulous when all the new fence panels are completed. Don't forget to keep an eye on all those weeds though, while you doing all this carpentry. Garden looks as lovely as ever.

3 Jun, 2014

A brilliant piece of work there TT. I'm pleased you had two competent carpenters to help you, and a good score keeper too ... :o)
I'm sure the fence will last many years ...

4 Jun, 2014

Team Terra on the ball as usual, really wish they'd educate my lot, they are all sleeping their days away apart from Brynners addiction for pruning the Buddhlia, (sigh)...
Great blog Terra, I like the way they leave everywhere spick and span, Crocus is so good keeping you up to date with the tennis, lol.......

4 Jun, 2014

great seeing before and after, must have been most satisfying for you all to see the end result, garden looks good too :-)

4 Jun, 2014

A great job for Team Terra, and a helper is only as good as his tools..which the three of them were supplied with..it's looking so professional, and I defy anyone to do better..I hope you got some help lifting it in place! ..just watch that shoulder,my girl..your garden is looking superb, well done to you all..:o)xxxx

4 Jun, 2014

What a fantastic professional job you and your boys have achieved there TT so good to see they have all the tools and are ready and willing for the job in hand, it will keep you all so busy this summer but I am sure you will still have time for fun, clever Crocus too looking after the Tennis scores you are missing while working away.
Team Terra RIO - top of the class x :o)

4 Jun, 2014

What a clever trio, you put me to shame. Your garden is looking fantastic too:-))

5 Jun, 2014

What a good job you and team terra have done... plenty of help as well.... dont think kayleigh or I could make a fence....lol

5 Jun, 2014

Wow, what a team Terra. Looks great.

5 Jun, 2014

Thanks Snoop ...
glad there are no mistakes ! ;o)

Hi Stera ...
Yes, I made life easier by painting before constructing !

Hello Tony ...
Crocus says hi to Rocky and wonders if he'd like to share a game of tennis on the whizzer toy ..

Hi Alan ... glad you like the blog ..

Thank you Hywel ...
Team Terra hoping to start another panel next weekend ...

Thanks Sue ... Is Brynner hoping to be featured in GoYpedia 'Pruning' ? ;o)

Kind words Jane ...
we now have the confidence to tackle the more complicated sections ...

Hi Sandra ...
no assistance with the lifting etc, but every 10 minutes I do my shoulder exercises, which are a big help. xxx

Thanks Neena ...
we're summoning up the energy to make another panel soon ! xxx

Hello Bornagain ..
glad you like the garden ...
trying to keep that tidy in between carpentry tasks !

Thanks Holly ...
I reckon Kayleigh could squeeze between those fence panels ... Lol.

Thank you Klahanie :o)

5 Jun, 2014

Hi Terra, What a smashing job the boys have made. if you would be so kind as to send them down to me i am sure i can find them a job hehe x

5 Jun, 2014

Thanks Sue ...
Boys would very much like a working holiday in Devon ...

Hourly rate of 2 Bonios with clotted cream ... he he x

5 Jun, 2014

Brynner is crafty Terra, I have two Buddhlia's in the garden and he only prunes the one in their own run, almost as if he's telling me that one is theirs so it doesn't matter, lol....

5 Jun, 2014

Have you managed to take an action photo Sue ?
Brynner caught in the act of pruning ? ;o) Lol ...

5 Jun, 2014

His crafty side always means he only ever does it when nobody is in the garden, he gives himself away by carrying the branches into the main garden and laying on the lawn to chew them up, if the gate is closed he has been known to bring them into Morgans sleeping quarters, now how naughty is that, lol....

5 Jun, 2014

:o) xxxx

5 Jun, 2014

OOOOyou are such a clever trio, especially the human who is a whiz at measuring and putting together neat wood fences. Great work TT......take care!

6 Jun, 2014

Hi Dorjac ..
Thank you ! Team Terra has been busy again today, sawing and painting ... lots still to do when we get more sunny days !

6 Jun, 2014

I have shown Millie this blog and told her where the tools are but, so far, no action! You've all made a great fence panel and a great blog - lovely to see Crocus joining in too :)

8 Jun, 2014

Thanks Gee ..
Took us this whole weekend to make the second panel ...
I've just finished fitting it ...
... less accessible and more complicated, so rather exhausting, but I'm pleased with the end result.
Plenty more to do when we find some new energy !

Conker says he'll lend Millie his large paintbrush and Truffle is offering the silver hammer ...
Crocus tweets Millie can share his whizzer toy.

8 Jun, 2014

Millie says 'thank you' to Conker, Truffle and Crocus but she'd rather lay among the creeping jenny in the flower bed and watch me work. I think she considers herself management status!

8 Jun, 2014

Lol Gee ... seems like you'd better recruit Poppy and the tortoises !

8 Jun, 2014

Well done to you and your helpers Terra ... it looks very professional ... just be wary of your shoulder aches and pains. :o)

10 Jun, 2014

Hi Shirley ..
thanks ...
currently Team Terra is working non-stop on the fencing panels, and, good news, so far my shoulder is coping well :o)

11 Jun, 2014

Excellent news Terra ... it's a gorgeous sunny day down here so I shall be mostly mowing grass for Mum later on. :o)

11 Jun, 2014

oh, well done!! and with no more tools than I have! not too sure about my sawing ability (apart from not having something to rest the wood on)

inspirational - makes me realise that I can do stuff too - lol if hte wood's the right size already!

14 Jun, 2014

Thanks Fran ..
I've discovered that hand-sawing is easier if you buy a little plastic guide apparatus ... I bought one for making the subsequent panels ... I'll include a pic of it in my next fencing blog. It helps you to saw straight lines, angles, all sorts :o)))

14 Jun, 2014

thanks daer!! I've not done any sawing here, but I did some pics of my attempts at the old place: given I've really only one goo d eye for "distance", and my back, *plus* not having a stable surface to work on, i did tend to saw in elegant curves

14 Jun, 2014
