Northamptonshire at its best ...

We travelled across the wonderful scenic countryside of Northamptonshire, to enter a village fun dog show in aid of Dogs Trust …

We arrived early to park close to the dog arena …

… and I was lucky to be able to browse the produce marquee before the area became busy …

……………………………………………………………………..

… please come inside …

…………………………………………………………………….

The class for one squash or pumpkin …

……………………………………………………………………..

Dish of cherry tomatoes …

…………………………………………………………………….

Two courgettes …

…………………………………………………………………….

Four cooking apples …

……………………………………………………………………..

Five different vegetables …

……………………………………………………………..

This dahlia display was from a very young entrant …

… a well-deserved first prize for Beatrice !

…………………………………………………………………….

Three different fruits …

…………………………………………………………………….

Class for one houseplant …

…………………………………………………………………….

Flower arrangement in a boot or shoe …

…………………………………………………………………….

Third place was very pretty …

…………………………………………………………………….

Lots here ..

… lemon curd, chutney, beetroot, eggs …

…………………………………………………………………….

Five scones … six brownies …

…………………………………………………………………….

… lovely potatoes …

……………………………………………………………………

… onion quads …

…………………………………………………………………….

… half dozen runner beans …

…………………………………………………………………….

The competition for the largest leaf !

… the leaves were wide .. and long …

… amazing …

………………………………………………………………

Back outside I found the Algernon Trust stall …

… animal sanctuary, re-homing centre and wildlife rescue …

Not difficult to guess which item I bought …

… he was sitting there, waiting for me to take him home …

………………………………………………………………….

Meanwhile, the carnival parade had arrived …

… magical witches …

…………………………………………………………….

… wonderland …

…………………………………………………………….

… and a special prize for the best Walking Entry …

… 101 Dalmatians …

……………………………………………………………..

The dog show was well-supported …

………………………………………………………………

… and the day ended with lots of happy children in an impromptu, energetic tug of war …

……………………………………………………………….

Back home, we’re delighted with our three rosettes from the dog show classes …

… it was a glorious day out …

… lovely friendly, helpful people at the show …

… definitely Northants at its best …

What a wonderful day TT .. congratulations to the two top dogs Truffle and Conker will they be training their new friend to go out to shows with them ? :o))

9 Sep, 2013

Hi Amy... thanks ...

... the new friend is very good at 'sit, stay'
so he could have a career in obedience shows ;o)

9 Sep, 2013

Fun fun fun! Well done to all the winners, especially our 2 favourites :)
Loving the new addition to Team Terra!

9 Sep, 2013

Hi Angie ..
Thank you .. I've just introduced Team Terra's new recruit to the MacScarecrows !

9 Sep, 2013

I hope they don't lead him astray ;)

9 Sep, 2013

Too late ... he's already been coerced ..
Fran has asked for a winter blog featuring the MacScarecrows and the new recruit ... sure they'll all be up to mischief ;o)

9 Sep, 2013

Roaring with laughter!
The newest recruit to the MacScarecrows clan didn't take much convincing, I fear.
The 'sit, stay' may have something to do with the clan.
I'd send Conker & Truffle to sniff out for illegal 'stills in the garden! ;-)

9 Sep, 2013

Hi Mouldy ..
Thanks for the alert .. you are absolutely right ..
I daren't leave the MacScarecrows alone for more than a few minutes .. ;o)

9 Sep, 2013

You know we exiled them, right?
Formenting & fermenting, if memory serves me. Lol.

9 Sep, 2013

The Mc Scarecrows have been a bit scary while you were out. They thought they saw a CROW but they wern't quite sure. So they flung themselves into one of your flower beds to hide. They should have crept back out by the time you got back TT. No damage done. Nice veggies and cakes. I wouldn't mind being a cake judge at such a show....YUM YUM.

9 Sep, 2013

You obviously enjoyed your day out and Conker and Truffles are still in top form judging by the rosettes, well done.

9 Sep, 2013

looked like an excellent day out, with bonus rosettes, well done!

lol I had to read one pc twice: first time, i was sure the label on the dish said, "india rubber duck eggs" ?????

10 Sep, 2013

Hi Fran ... thanks ...
Lol. ... rubber duck eggs ... bouncy ones .. ;o)

Hello Stroller ...
yes the judging was very fair and great fun !

Thank you Dorjac ...
Next year I'll definitely recommend you as cake judge ..
... if those MacScarecrows don't get there ahead of you ;o)

10 Sep, 2013

Lovely blog, I really specially enjoyed looking at the produce entries. Sometimes its really hard to know why one gets a first in preference to another. Wonder if anybody guessed wrong about what you bought from the stall...Congratulations to the Team on the rosettes - but its no less than we would have expected after all!

11 Sep, 2013

Thanks for sharing, TT. Your blog was very interesting.

12 Sep, 2013

Thanks Stera ..
Everyone guessed the fluffy Wire Haired Fox Terrier !
I have him sitting next to me on the table here ..

Thank you Sixpence 48 ...
