SUNSHINE after the storms ...

Early March was mild and sunny …

… my hellebores were happy and perky …

……………………………………………………………..

The trees basked in the spring sunshine …

……………………………………………………………..

… and the Silver Birch shimmered with delight …

… euphoric to feel the warmth on its branches …

……………………………………………………………..

… the crocus flowers dazzled …

……………………………………………………………..

… and Truffle couldn’t resist admiring the borders …

… He has BIG IDEAS for redesigning my rockeries …

…………………………………………………………….

The robin perched amongst the pink blossom buds …

…………………………………………………………….

… and sang his merry springtime song …

…………………………………………………………….

However … the starlings were watching the horizon …

… and they warned of freezing weather ahead …

…………………………………………………………….

Large snowflakes fell everywhere … on the plants …

…………………………………………………………….

… and on anyone who dared to venture outside …

…………………………………………………………….

… but there’s sunshine after a storm …

… and, two by two, the birds reappeared …

…………………………………………………………….

… selecting all the very best perching places …

…………………………………………………………….

Sunny days … and time for the big toe test …

… water’s warm …

…………………………………………………………….

… anyone for a dip ? …

… just splash it all over …

…………………………………………………………….

Collared Doves know how to choose the ideal tree …

… for sunrise posing … and morning preening …

…………………………………………………………….

The gentle rain has encouraged more crocus buds …

…………………………………………………………….

… and a cute little iris is keen show off its colours …

…………………………………………………………….

Wishing you sunny days in your springtime gardens

… may all your feathers be dry, neat and cosy …

A really springtime blog and lovely photo's Terra, the blue sky is a treat to see, hasn't made it over here though, its a very dark day, absolutely pouring down providing extra ponds where we really don't want them, keeps snowing as well, luckily too wet to settle, even the trip to the g'house needed the wellies and that was walking down the yard and footpath, its an indoor day armchair gardening, lol.....

Lovely pictures TT. Those sparrows on the bird bath are really lovely. Passing the time of day. Had a few bits of sunshine in Essex....dash out and do a bit of gardening....then it rains again.

17 Mar, 2013

Beautiful photos Terra, the birds look so clear, mine always come out a bit fuzzy! Had a bluetit in our bath today for the first time (well first time I've seen it). Been doing a bit of digging in the front border today but it's back breaking and I have to go to work in a couple of hours so thought I'd rest a bit before my muscle relaxing bath. OH watching the F1 and I accidentally told him who won......ooops! Sun been out nearly all day. Lovely.

17 Mar, 2013

That's a lovely spring blog TT :o)) enjoyed very much.

17 Mar, 2013

Nice to have shared your lovely spring blog TT.
I can see that there`s a lot going on in Truffles head its not easy this garden design business, but we know he will get there, so with some sunshine and a bit of knowhow we shall all be admiring the new rockery.

17 Mar, 2013

Thanks everyone for your lovely comments ...

Hywel / Stroller ..
... the rockery re-design is still in the planning stage ..
but, by the look in Truffle's eyes ...
... I'm expecting something extraordinary ;o)

Wonderful blog Terra...love the pic of the birds & bath, looks like they're having a conversation...:>)

17 Mar, 2013

Thank you, Moti ..
... maybe the sparrows were discussing who should be first to jump in the bath ;o)

17 Mar, 2013

Hi Terra lovely to see all the Spring pictures of your beautiful garden and Doggies, your narration brought it all to life;0)

17 Mar, 2013

Just look at those sparrows - they are beautiful pictures of them TT.
Just what has Truffle got planned? Nothing major involving big plant machinery I hope....lol ;) I can just see him riding along on a huge yellow JCB - waving to us as he gets stuck in.
Smashing blog as usual!

17 Mar, 2013

17 Mar, 2013

... doves, pigeons, sparrows etc .. :o)

17 Mar, 2013

18 Mar, 2013

:o) Have a lovely day TT x

18 Mar, 2013

Hi Neena ... thank you :o) x

18 Mar, 2013

Lovelt upbeat blog Terra.....it aint easy staying that way! Yesterday it drizzled or poured all day. I think the troop of blackbirds have winged it back to Scandinavia, hoping it is OK there. You have a lot of starlings near you in the birch tree. We get about 1/2 dozen in our Hawthorn.

18 Mar, 2013

Hi Dorjac ..
thanks ... quite a lot of starlings around, but not so many as to be a nuisance... they are comical to watch in the birdbaths :o)
I'm usually upbeat ... I tell myself that life could be far worse ... and my pets keep me happy :o)))

18 Mar, 2013

Have your camera ready ! :o)) x

18 Mar, 2013

Great pics and a great read Terra, thanks! Cheered me up on a grey horrible Monday!

18 Mar, 2013

Hi Terra lol i think my plants have all drowned or something haha, but camera at the ready :o)) x

18 Mar, 2013

Hi Dirtyred ...
thank you ... I'm glad this cheered you !

18 Mar, 2013

Very nice Tt...we're they Magpies I saw in the tree???? oh dear! Hope they don't attack the other birds! they do here!!
I see it was very sunny for you as tree in the 2nd picture even laid down to sunbathe....ha ha!!!!! The sideways photo gremlin again, on my IPad!!!!

18 Mar, 2013

Hi Paul .. Thanks ..
Pictures all the correct way up on my laptop...
those Ipads do strange things, don't they !!

That was unusual seeing the magpies ..
they rarely come that close to the gardens ...

18 Mar, 2013

great blog as always Terra - not for this cold . we're having a trough at home - and would be nice planted like your raised bed

18 Mar, 2013

A lovely lovely blog as usual, I really loved the sparrows having a bath, some great shots there TT, as for magpies we had 14 in one tree the other day, camera was not at the ready, slap on the wrist!! and we have a lot of crows, which we never had before?
Thanks for cheering me up, on a very cold and very wet (yes again) day and it looks as if we have a few more to get through, before Spring happens in the South lol

19 Mar, 2013

Thanks Paul ..
some years back I worked hard, constructing my raised bed from recycled brick sections... but now it is quite 'easy care' ... produces lots of colour with not much effort ! Good luck with your trough ...

Hi Dotty...
thank you .. lots of sparrows in my gardens, but magpies are rare visitors, and then only two at a time ... I've never seen 14 at once.
I hope you get some warm springtime days .. soon... :o)

19 Mar, 2013

We have lots of magpies visiting our smallish garden but they fly off at the rattle of a doorkhandle. They like bread and dip stale bread in the bird bath and bury fat strands in the lawn! Just seen 2 robins on 2 apple trees. One flew to the other and fed it......courtship? The fox has been mining under the 'gazebo' after about 8 goes at the garden shed!

19 Mar, 2013

Finally the snow has some uses and am managing to catch up with your lovely spring garden xxx

23 Mar, 2013

Thanks Pam ...
Some light snow today, but my gardens and flowers seem to be surviving well :o)
xxx

23 Mar, 2013

Thank you Homebird ..
Truffle is drawing up plans even as I write ...

I'm rather concerned about the Z shaped extensions to the dog run ;o) Lol.

23 Mar, 2013

Happy Easter Terra, hope all is well with you all, still a tad cold here but at least the sun is shining for us, xx.

31 Mar, 2013

Thanks Sue ..
Let's hope for warmer weather soon .. xxx
