CABIN FEVER

Suffering from Cabin Fever ?

Want to scream just like a Diva ?

Weather blowing up a gale ?

Garden full of freezing hail ?

Fear not ~ there’s an antidote

Grab your car, or bike or boat

Find a Garden Centre ~ quick

Lovely plants will do the trick

Go back home, the clouds are clearing

Pretty rainbows soon appearing

Flowers bloom in every border

Blossom on your Exochorda

Garden shrubs will look divine

Heucheras will gleam and shine

Everywhere your garden beaming

Alpines glowing, pebbles gleaming

Clear blue skies are sure to please

Prunus dancing in the breeze

So, I wish you sunny weather ~

Busy bees on every heather :o)

Very inspiring TT. I see you are trapped in doors, being creative, as the longed for rain pours its bounty on the earth. The rain still poureth here in Essex. It started at 7am. Why not at night I ask? I love Wallis and Grommet on the mobike and sidecar, preparing to stock up at the GC. Wonder what they will buy?

25 Apr, 2012

That's cheered me up TT (still freezing cold though)
I'm starting to hope that the magic seeds you sent me will grow into an Ark ;O)))))))))

25 Apr, 2012

Hi Dorjac ... Thank you ...
Yes, the ground needs the rain. I went to a Garden Centre yesterday and was lucky the weather stayed dry and sunny ... Am now safely indoors watching the downpours ! Wallace and Gromit are shopping for Wensleydale cheese ;o)

25 Apr, 2012

arrh what a lovely blog, certainly cheered me up:-)) nice photos of your garden too;-)

25 Apr, 2012

Thankyou, TT. Been imprisoned by the rain for a fortnight, and have already taken your cure of hitting the GCs and that works, not only for buying new plants but having tea and scones looking out at the rain!

25 Apr, 2012

Lovely blog again TT:
Brightened up my day.
Plants are looking beautiful. Love the Pansies with their little faces.:o)

25 Apr, 2012

Great blog, TT. I am stuck indoors waiting for a parcel to arrive. I need an airing, even if the rain is pouring and the wind howling but Millie is relieved. She still hasn't got out of bed. That heuchera is very attractive, do you know the name?

25 Apr, 2012

Lovely blog as always Terratoonie. I went to the garden centre earlier couldn't get anything though as Tyrese wouldnt get out of the car, think he's coming down with something. Let's hope this weather improves soon so we can all get back out in our gardens :-)

25 Apr, 2012

25 Apr, 2012

A very welcome blog Terra, lovely pics and captions, it was grand to get out yesterday but OH BOY!! we are going through it today and apparently its hanging around for a few days.
Wallace and Gromit need the boat I`m afraid, those are very pretty pansies and your Heuchera is gorgeous, I have one that does well in my garden, had it a few years but only one of my new ones has made it through the winter, fingers xx it looks as good as yours in a while....

25 Apr, 2012

Aww thanks for that, Terra :) It's been raining all day and Benji wants his walk - so do I for that matter! Maybe a trip to the garden centre would make us both happy :)

25 Apr, 2012

Thanks everyone for such lovely comments ..

Answering ...
The pansies and violas have sprung up all over the place this springtime .. from ones which seeded last year ...

Gee ... The Heuchera is "Electra" .. it seems to like the rain !

Jessica ... I hope Tyrese feels better soon ...

Yorks .. it's very windy here now !

Grandmage ... This week my exochorda is blossoming beautifully .. which is useful because I needed something to rhyme with "border". LOL.

Lincs .. keep paddling up there ! ;o)

25 Apr, 2012

Thank you Terratoonie :-)

25 Apr, 2012

Brilliant blog Terra...It really cheered me up on this gloomy wet day...:>)

25 Apr, 2012

Lovely pictures. I'm almost tempted to get my wellies out and walk to the nursery to see what might tempt me. It has rained here ever since I got my new mower!

25 Apr, 2012

Thanks, TT, I hope to get to the Kent Garden Show at the end of May and they always have several stalls specialising on heucheras there. I am compiling a wish list :)

25 Apr, 2012

Brilliant blog Terra, just what we all need on a rainy gloomy day to lift our spirits. I always enjoy your rhymes. - Cabin fever just about sums up my mood at the moment. The good news is the water butts have arrived at last - so its bound to stop now ...lol

25 Apr, 2012

lol...poppylover...you think just like me!! Daft! I always say that all I have to do to get rain is hang out my laundry!! TT...that fairly cheered me up, but I got the feeling you were 'cut off in your prime' somehow....I expected more to follow after the bees! Since it ended so abruptly, I will now have to go back to looking at the wind and rain :( Still, I could always go back to the top and read it again!.....

25 Apr, 2012

Great blog, TT :)

Same weather here...cabin fever does indeed sum it up, Poppy. I will take your advice and head for the GC tomorrow - then line all my purchases up and admire them from indoors until the rain stops!

25 Apr, 2012

Hi Poppy, Karen and Karen .. Glad you like this ...

25 Apr, 2012

Lots of wet and windy weather

Windmill going 'hell for leather'

Still its stops the heron calling

Fish for his dinner...would be appalling

So I'm sitting.........busy knitting

Watching mrs blackbird feeding

Pulling worms....rain not heeding

Cannot put it off much longer

Tho the rain is getting stronger

Need more coal to build the fire

Lest the rain will get much higher

Annie,s ark we will be needing

(I just hope.? She,ll cope with feeding!!

Thankyou Terra for bringing the sunshine. xxx

25 Apr, 2012

Thanks everyone for your kind comments :o)

Dotty ... I've had the Exochorda macrantha "The Bride" for several years now .. It has always blossomed well. It's growing up against a fence. Maybe that helps it.

26 Apr, 2012

TT never get bored of your blogs as they always cheer us up on another wet gloomy day .

Yes as Karen says as soon as you see to laundry rain comes on.

Its tipping down again .

And water butts overflowing.

As we do say you really still can go out in the rain if you are wearing the right clothing which I have done for days all waterproof gear.

But past fun now need sunshine fix.

26 Apr, 2012

Hi Scotkat ..
Thanks for the encouragement :o)

26 Apr, 2012

Thanks Beverley .. glad you like the blog :o)

26 Apr, 2012

Hello Terratoonie,

Let's hope the weather improves. The cats are also suffering from a bit of cabin fever as well! they are either racing around indoors or sitting at the window watching the rain but not wanting to go out!

27 Apr, 2012

Hi Lijemc ..
Yes, the dogs and cats are missing their sunbathing in the gardens !

27 Apr, 2012

Lovely cheering blog Terra and great poem too. It seems to be time to build an arc here, almost nonstop rain. It's quite funny really, just as garden centres and gardening magazines are extolling the virtues of drought tolerant plants...we get this. Next editions will be extolling the virtues of bog plants:-)

27 Apr, 2012

Hi Bornagain ...
Yes, rivers overflowing now !
Glad you like my blog :o)

27 Apr, 2012

29 Apr, 2012

It is pouring with rain blowing a gale and freezing cold here in Newcastle, and it is driving me cracker's not been able to get out in the garden, if it continue's like this do you think we will be planting our bedding plant's out in August?

29 Apr, 2012

Hi Mavis ... with that early hot weather only a few weeks ago, it proves how quickly the temperatures can change, so maybe we'll get some warm sunshine soon ... fingers crossed :o)

29 Apr, 2012

Hello TT
What a beautiful blog and with some lovely comments.
Been wet hear most of last week and this week end was the icing on the cake. More like monsoon rain accompanied with hurricane winds last night and when I looked out of my windows this morning it was so nice to see that neighbors from afar had shared their rubbish from their paper recycling bins. Being downwind my front garden is more like the net from a trawler. Rubbish all cleared now .
Nothing else to it, I logged onto GOU and seeing CABIN FEVER it reminded me of being stuck indoors. Then I read your blog. Cheers one up knowing there are happy people out there . Thank you TT . P.S. Your poetry not too bad either....

29 Apr, 2012

Downwind troubles for Tommyshortlegs ?
Neighbours ! ... Pin down your trash with clothes pegs !!!

Glad that the rubbish is now all clear.
Hoping those monsoons will disappear

Thank you, Tommy ... such kind words
Love your photos of little birds :o) x

29 Apr, 2012

Today on Monday a beautiful blue sky day, a sunny 20 degrees on the patio thermometer. No harm done in this garden, and everything well watered......cheers.

30 Apr, 2012

Hi Dorjac ..
Yes, sunny here too .. and I did lots of work outside :o)

30 Apr, 2012

I'm not a poet and definitely know it.
But you are ! Your a star ??
?
?
?

1 May, 2012

It was lovely here yesterday Terra, gardening was priority, good job I mowed the lawns as the rain came back last night with a vengeance, I do feel for the people who are watching the floodwaters get ever closer and count myself lucky in that respect. I saw on the telly the weatherman predicts a cold May but a hot summer to follow, not holding my breath on that, lol...

1 May, 2012

Thanks Dordor ... :o)

Hi Sue ...
Yes flooding in many parts of the UK.
Luckily I'm on a hill !
Well done on mowing your lawns ... I was up ladders, clearing some of my gutters, full of wet, black moss !

1 May, 2012

Gosh Terra I hope you had someone there to hold the ladder..

1 May, 2012

I only cleaned the lower gutters ... I don't like heights so I wait for a friend to visit and we do the higher gutters as teamwork ! :o)

1 May, 2012

You have cheered me up now with such happy words and beautiful pictures!

xx Thanks
