The Winds of Change ...

Breezy days … Stay safe everyone !

… and lots of changes happening …

Forecasts of even stronger gales to come …

… so, I’ve been leaping up ladders …

… and trimming the top-heavy climbers …

…………………………………………………………….

A good year for heathers …

Front garden …

……………………………………………………………….

Heucheras enjoying a mingle with the campanulas …

………………………………………………………………..

Rose Ballerina …

Insects appreciating the second bloom …

………………………………………………………………..

Back garden …

Heathers and Lithodora …

………………………………………………………………..

Sedum Frosty Morn … preparing to blossom …

………………………………………………………………..

Pepé Le Pew offering a perch for ladybirds …

…………………………………………………………………

Chimney-pot heather … having a Good Hair Day …

…………………………………………………………………

But what’s this ?

It should be a full paper-towel roll ….

Kitchen door was open. The breeze was getting up,

… but was the whole roll blown away by the wind ?

………………………………………………………………….

“Don’t ask me … I’ve been enjoying a siesta” …

………………………………………………………………….

“I’ve been busy with my bells and my glitter-ball” …

…………………………………………………………………..

“I think I’ve been a naughty boy again” …

…………………………………………………………………..

All is calm now, in the evening garden …

… awaiting the storms …

Up on the pergola, Iceberg rose is hanging on …

Four chimney-pots have new heathers in place …

…………………………………………………………………….

The remnants of Hurricane Katia have reached the UK …

I hope your gardens didn’t get too battered …

……………………………………………………………………..

I hope the changes are good ones TT and that you are looking forward to them.

truffles is not alone with his kitchen/toilet roll fetish. Sol cannot not be left alone for one minute, or any roll left within his grasp is gone.

He has a height of about 4ft when standing on his hind legs.

Stealing from the downside loo is easy game for him,as at present it has a sliding door which he can open.

Sol is very good at hiding his misdemeanors under his bedding.

Grannyb, what kind of pooch do you have then!!

10 Sep, 2011

Hi Helen ... hoping you meet with calm waters :o)

Sticki ... the phrase "a change is as good as a rest" definitely does NOT apply ... Lol.

10 Sep, 2011

i havent found any changes that meant a rest for me.

10 Sep, 2011

Exactly :o)

10 Sep, 2011

Hi TT, great blog and your garden is looking fab. as usual!

10 Sep, 2011

Hi Grandmage ... Many thanks. x

10 Sep, 2011

The gardens are looking lovely as usual Terra, I like heathers as well especially this time of the year, I haven`t seen that Sedum before, its a smasher, definitely adding that one to my list.
I`ve been wanting to cut my front hedge all week but I don`t fancy chasing the trimmings down the road, the wind is quite strong again today but at least its warm and nowhere near as bad as they reckon it is in a lot of places so mustn`t grumble.
We lose paper towels and loo rolls on a regular basis and doesn`t it take ages to clear up, more so if naughy Brynner takes them into the garden before anyone notices he`s pinched one, Morgans liking are the teatowels, he grabs them and chews them every chance he gets, you can imagine how many he`s had in his lifetime, lol.
Lovely shots Terra, I do like the fact that Truffle has his toy as if he`s hoping you`ll not notice the paper towel, Conker is looking quite superior, knows full well that the little monkey has been up to mischief..
Lovely to see one of Crocus as well...

10 Sep, 2011

Hi Lincslass ...
I can imagine your shopping list ... with lots of paper towels and loo rolls to replace those "stolen" ones..Lol.
I think that my sedum is big enough that I can send you a piece, if you wish ...
Conker, Truffle and Crocus send xxx

10 Sep, 2011

Lovely photos of your lovely garden. Everything looking so healthy and lush. And lots of colour too.
I've just been out to put a few things away and batten down the hatches. I hate the wind more than any other kind of weather, it scares me. For some reason our dustbin always ends up in the road. No-one elses, just ours!

10 Sep, 2011

Lovely garden ,Terratoonie .
I find Ted ,[grandson ] enjoys toilet-rolls in a similar fashion if I'm not careful . I think he pulls it and it unwinds rapidly and he panics !

10 Sep, 2011

Hello Marshmallow ... Thanks.

The TV weather forecaster has just warned of the approaching storms... He didn't mention your dustbin in particular, but it seems you might do well to put some bricks in the bottom of it on Sunday night ;o)

10 Sep, 2011

Hi Driad ... Thank you ..
Seems like young Ted has his own style with toilet-rolls !
He just needs to learn how to put the brakes on them. ;o)

10 Sep, 2011

Lulu..Granny B has a very lovable but naughty golden retriever, who just has a knack of getting into trouble.

10 Sep, 2011

You've got some beautiful heathers TT, and I wish my ballerina rose would have a second flush.
Lovely little Campanula you've got there aswell :o)

I hope you keep the door firmly closed for the next few days. I don't want to hear Conker or Truffle have been blown away like the kitchen roll - or Crocus's feathers lol.
.... No it couldn't have been Truffle. He's a good boy :o))
x

10 Sep, 2011

Hello Hywel.. Thanks ..
Yes, maybe Truffle was nobly taking the blame for someone else ;o)
I think your Mum would have been pleased with how her Campanula is thriving... and the brick definitely stops the persistent blackbird from digging it up !

All doors closed firmly till the storms have gone ... x

10 Sep, 2011

Think the storms are going to miss us in the SW!
Grannyb, there is a very lovely golden retriever here at the stud, always jumping into anything with water in it! The boss, her owner is just building an ornamental pond............could be funny!! and wet!

10 Sep, 2011

Hi TT, We have had a great day and plenty of fun.You have just finished off our day with a really good laugh.

Truffles you are not naughty at all you just got bored because mummy was busy.

Conker i dont believe you were snoozing at all you are just trying to make us think that you are innocent lol.

Nice to see Crocus staying out of trouble and being good.

TT what a beautiful array of plants you have .Love the new heather. Also love the heather in the chimney pots.

Another great blog TT.:)))))

10 Sep, 2011

Hi Mark and family ... Thanks ..
Heathers have done well this year...

Glad you had a great day...

Those paper towels .. I'm beginning to wonder if Crocus was the culprit ... flapped his wings and unfurled the whole kitchen roll... Lol. :o)))

10 Sep, 2011

I wouldn't be surprised, TT!
These birdies are always always a bit cheeky! :)

10 Sep, 2011

Lol. Karen ...
Coco would know ;o)

10 Sep, 2011

lovely pics Terra and everything beautifull in your garden, naughty truffle lol, maybe he was trying to help with cleaning Terra ;o))

10 Sep, 2011

Hi Sandra .. Thanks ...
Yes, maybe Truffle was trying to be useful ... Lol ... ;o)

10 Sep, 2011

:o)) im sure he was haha

10 Sep, 2011

I agree with Sandra, your little gang can do no wrong in my eyes...I think Truffle was cleaning up a previous mess created by...er...umm...the mess fairy!!
Your garden's looking immaculate as usual, I really like the chimney pots with the heathers, very stylish!

10 Sep, 2011

Beautiful garden lovely blog naughty doggy...batten down the ahtches..already very windy up here! :)

10 Sep, 2011

Maybe the wind blew the kitchen roll Truffle's way ? they all look so innocent, your garden is looking really nice :-))

10 Sep, 2011

Your new heathers look fantastic and what a lovely garden lets hope the weather does nt do any damage to it and passes you by, I had to give a giggle Conker not guity, Crocus not guilty, Truffles guilty as charged but really thought he was helping some thing the right size to wipe your hands on from doing all that cutting back so no guilty really hehe.

10 Sep, 2011

Oh Lulu, I wished I'd had my camera this morning my cute golden came out of the beck covered in silt. Home to the hosepipe. Not so funny them.

years ago when I had three goldies, we had a pond, it was like ducks to water. Never ever could get the b*****s out.

i would suggest your neigbours build a sandpit instead, dogs will still bath in it, but at least it's dry.

10 Sep, 2011

Hi Libet.. Thanks. :o)

Truffle is glad he has so much support. Lol.
I hope you have everything tied down in Country Antrim.. including the paper towel rolls ... ready for the winds and rain ..
Three of the chimneys are "heirlooms" from my mother's garden. I make good use of them all year... :o) x

11 Sep, 2011

Hi Pixi...

Weather forecaster has just explained that Ireland and Scotland could get the worst of the weather.. keep warm and dry in Fife !

11 Sep, 2011

Hello Mavis ...

Thank you .... Roses and heathers have done especially well this year ..

You are right. I think the wind did blow the paper roll down towards Truffle ... then he just helped it to unfurl ... Lol...

Keep cosy and safe over in Newcastle ! :o)

11 Sep, 2011

Lol. Sixpence..

I like your excuses you've made for Truffle ... yes ... smaller size handy pieces of paper roll ... :o) In fact I have been using up the torn pieces on cleaning jobs in the garden ... waste not ... want not. ;o)

I hope all your clematis plants are tied up tight. I remember your garden had wind damage earlier this year, didn't it ? Northern half of the UK is due to get the main impact of the storms. Let's hope everyone stays safe. xxx

11 Sep, 2011

very wondy here now!

11 Sep, 2011

Hi Pixi ... wondy ...
... is that Scottish for windy ? x

11 Sep, 2011

Lol!!...You only get wonds in Dunfermline! ;)))

11 Sep, 2011

oh hahah\! well im a pixi I need a wond?

11 Sep, 2011

To keep back Hurricane Katia ..
... you'll need a wind, a wond and a wand. ;o)

11 Sep, 2011

I have too much wind (yes me) the wonds are getting stronger! And yes I NEED a wand! I would make the weather be better!!!!!

11 Sep, 2011

Wonderful set of photo's Terra, your garden is as lovely as ever, make sure you stay safe with the winds later..

11 Sep, 2011

Getting windier as the day goes on here..had to run and rescue a few things blowing about..jsut hope the washing doesnt fly off the line!!!!!!!

11 Sep, 2011

Hi Surreylad ...
Thank you ...
Strong rain falling now, but we are all safe indoors :o)

11 Sep, 2011

Extra pegs on your washing, Pixi ... ;o)

11 Sep, 2011

11 Sep, 2011

Back to sharp showers again here Holly ... Lol... x

Hi Pam .. Thank you ... You could be right about Truffle ... he knows I'm currently into a major task of sorting out my sheds ... which could take weeks... and I need paper-towels at the ready to clean lots of things ... ;o)

11 Sep, 2011

Terra, isn't that a lovely pic of the Heuchera mingling with the Campanula? ... a lovely 'mingle' if ever I saw one! ... the last pic is definitely a 'What, me?' kind of expression ... lol! ... :o)))

11 Sep, 2011

Hello Shirley...
The patch of heucheras and campanula is the piece of garden I see when I open my front door... I'm pleased with how it has developed... Thank you ... :o)

... and Truffle... ? Not guilty, it seems... Lol.. ;o)

11 Sep, 2011

:o)) glad you found some use for them Truffles just thought you had small dainty hands.

11 Sep, 2011

Just found you blog Terra and as usual its a very good one. Your garden looks really lovely, its so immaculate, i'm sure that hurricane wouldn't dare come anyway near your garden!

12 Sep, 2011

Lol. 6d... there's nothing dainty about Truffle though ..
he's just been chasing a fly around the kitchen ...
... chaos ! ;o)

Hi Rose ...
Thanks so much. Very gusty here today.
Let's hope everyone's plants stay in place !

12 Sep, 2011

Beautiful pictures, Truffles looks so cute, the wind has caused havoc in the garden, will take hours to clean it up,wish our garden looked as imaculate as yours, sadly we are surrounded by trees and all the leafs say lets bomb yorkshires garden.

12 Sep, 2011

Hi Yorks....

Thanks ... that's a pity the leaves are invading your garden. There are a few trees in neighbouring gardens around here, but those trees haven't dropped their leaves yet..

Did you miss my Queue for the Loo blog I wrote for Mark ?

12 Sep, 2011

I just looked at your blog Tettra

12 Sep, 2011

Thanks .. Found your comments Yorks.
Knew you'd want to see Mark's piece of artwork ;o)

12 Sep, 2011

he was going to make me the train, but I had to say no thank you, would have cost a forune to send it to me, it was very kind of him,

12 Sep, 2011

Hi Terra, great blog, loved the chimney pots as I have not been vey successful with heathers. Really nice garden. Also loved all the comments. Breda...

12 Sep, 2011

Hi Breda..
Thank you ..
Maybe you'll have more success with heathers in the future...
Thanks for visiting. :o)

12 Sep, 2011

A gorgeous garden Toonie. I loved the Heucheras. Some of my favourite plants and planting with the campanulas for company is briilig.

12 Sep, 2011

Lol beats having a spider then even with chaos hehe

12 Sep, 2011

hi terra Crocus looks great and Tiny is now trying to imitate him. Beautiful Heathers terra thankyou.

12 Sep, 2011

Hi Songthrush ... Thanks...
I'm pleased with how the campanula has mingled with the heucheras ...

Lol. Sixpence :o)

Hello Tony ...
Thank you. Glad you like the heathers ...
Crocus budgie says hi to Tiny budgie :o)))

13 Sep, 2011

A lovely blog TT. You still have lots of colourful interest in the garden. That is a bonus with your cheeky companions to keep you entertained. What a clever doggie to manage to pull all the roll off by himself. It takes 70 puppies to do the bog roll ad for TV. Maybe Truffle could get a job to help replenish the stock.

13 Sep, 2011

Hello Scotsgran ...

Thanks. This late summer/early autumn I've been pleased with my gardens.

This morning, I've been up ladders, trimming my Clematis armandii, high on my pergola, before the storms get going again... and I noticed one part of the armandii is starting to bud with blossom !!! ...

...with such strange weather this year, the plants really don't know which season we're in ... just as confused as we are !

Yes, I think I should hire out Conker and Truffle for TV ads.. could make some useful money... Lol..

13 Sep, 2011

Love those animals, Terra! Beautiful pics of your garden. Does that sedum remain white - looks gorgeous. My sedums are smothered with Red Admirals currently and my heucheras are still flowering; they seem to go on forever.

15 Sep, 2011

Hi Tuesdaybear ...

Thank you. The sedum keeps the variegated leaves. The flowers get a pale mauve colour in with the white. How lovely to have the Red Admirals on your sedums.. :o)

16 Sep, 2011

Lovely blog and photos, hope you all stayed safe, lovely to see all three boys looking well.

17 Sep, 2011

Hi Clarice.. Thank you.. :o)

Nice to see you back on GoY. I hope Jack and Tilly are well. All okay here, but heavy rain storms at the moment !

17 Sep, 2011

We have some very heavy rain been like it since about 5am, but can see abit of blue sky, Jack & Tilly are doing fine x

17 Sep, 2011

That's good :o) x

17 Sep, 2011

Today is the first time i've been on my laptop for a few weeks.x

17 Sep, 2011

A lovely blog Terra and your garden is looking beautiful so many different plants, I think that Sedum is my favourite, not seen one with varigated edges and what a lovely name, the heathers are doing very well this year too bringing colour as other plants fade. I do hope Truffles is forgiven he is such a mischieveous boy isnt he , but never a dull moment with him around, Imsending a hug for both Conker and Truffles and one for you too for brightening my day;0-))

17 Sep, 2011

Glad you are back, Clarice, visiting us on laptop x

Hello PP ...
The Frosty Morn has pretty delicate colours ... and I'm very pleased with the heathers this year ...

We all send hugs to you.
Hope you are feeling well ... xxx

17 Sep, 2011

What wonderful Heathers you have growing in your garden, Terra, absolutely wonderful photos of your own slice of Paradise! And Truffle...that innocent expression says it all..'Who me?...No Gov, I've been set up...honest!'..LOL!

8 Oct, 2011

Hi Flori... Thanks...
The heathers have bloomed so well this year ...
Unfortunately for Truffle, he is usually "caught in the act" ... so little chance of passing on the blame to others ...
... "the budgie did it" Lol ... ;o)

8 Oct, 2011

hahahahaha...oh well, he is still young, Terra, as he gets older he'll be able to pin it on someone else..lol. So good to be in touch again..Hugs to you and yours xxx
