GARDEN GRIDLOCK ...

My gardens are white and bleak and freezing …

… so cold, that the Forest Flame is sneezing !

………………………………………………………………………..

It’s chilly ~ and we know it’s not for laughs …

… when statues are wearing woolly scarfs …

………………………………………………………………

The paths are like skid-pads ~ crisp and dicey …

… the skimmia is looking very icy.

……………………………………………………………….

So, curl up, and hide your feet and nosey …

Stay snuggled. Keep safe and warm and cosy.

………………………………………………………………..

For down below the snow, all’s hunky-dory …

… soon springtime will be here in all its glory.

We seem to all be suffering the same TT, personally I'm getting too old for all this cold weather, I dress up like someone from the North Pole at the moment. At least Truffle and Conker look happy, keep warm all of you. The good news is the snow is covering up those blessed leaves.

1 Dec, 2010

Hi Bob... I like to think of the bulbs all cosy under the ground, waiting to come up in the springtime.... sounds like you're dressed suitably for the North Pole ! ;o)

1 Dec, 2010

I enjoyed your blog, Tt - thanks. I shall say why - it was the poem and seeing Conker and Truffle all happily warm and safe, plus, of course, the hope at the end.

I can't say I enjoyed seeing the photos of the 'white stuff', though! LOL.

Do you happen to know the name of your pretty Skimmia, please?

Today seems even colder with more snow, so I hope you and your pets all keep safe and warm.

I've just ventured outside, to fill up the bird feeders and defrost my bird baths...

All those bulbs are safely tucked away under the snow, ready to put on a colourful show in the Springtime :o)))

2 Dec, 2010

Lovely photos of Conker & Truffle, looking at them makes me feel all warm and cosy inside.
I guess we are all in the same boat at the moment with all this snow and freezing weather, but our gardens will always survive.
Roll on Springtime.

Hi Trency...
Conker and Truffle say thank you ...

2 Dec, 2010

magic !

2 Dec, 2010

We have well over a foot of snow in Belper and still can't use the car yet. The plough came up earlier but didn't move the snow from the road, just gritted it. Icicles hanging everywhere...everything getting cancelled. Thanks for a super blog Terra. It's still snowing here.

2 Dec, 2010

Thanks Bampy and Linda...
Good luck with the icicles !

2 Dec, 2010

I loved your blog, TT....there's something to be said for staying inside nice and warm in this nasty, cold weather. I think Conker and Truffle are very wise to stay all snugged up :) I feel just the same....want to be snug and warm :)

Yes, the bulbs are waiting.....your last picture gives us a taste of how beautiful everything will be in a few short months...roll on spring :)

2 Dec, 2010

Thanks for your lovely comments, Whistonlass.....

2 Dec, 2010

Great blog once again, TT! :-)) Loved seeing you pets wrapped up warm, they look as warm as toast!

I liked your rhyming way of putting blog together!! That last picture of spring flowers was so unexpected & sooo lovely! Unfortunately we have still got to get through another few months of cold winter weather before we reach spring!

2 Dec, 2010

Hi Balcony....
"without winter we couldn't have a spring" ..
well.... at least that's what I tell myself... Lol.

Thanks for your nice words about my rhyming blog...
During this cold weather, Conker and Truffle have been very content to be curled up under their blankets ! :o)

2 Dec, 2010

great verse, gorgeous pics! :-)))

2 Dec, 2010

Great blog Terra. When we look at our gardens in such bleak weather as this it's hard to remember how colourful and beautiful they look at other times of the year. Your spring picture is a wonderful example of what we have to look forward to :o)) Lovely to see Conker and Truffle so snug and comfy.

2 Dec, 2010

Great as usual Terra, your boys look all warm and snuggly, that Skimmia is a beaut, I keep trying them in my garden but never get them to last, guess I`m getting it wrong somewhere........

2 Dec, 2010

Thanks everyone ...
Conker and Truffle enjoy snuggling ;o)

Lincslass ... the skimmia is fairly new, so I must wait to see if it survives well ... do you have yours in acid soil ?

3 Dec, 2010

super blog TT . cheered me up thinking about what was hiding under all the mounds of snow in my garden, thanks

3 Dec, 2010

Hi Helen...
Thanks... yes... all those plants and bulbs ready to burst into life next year, when the snow will be a distant memory ! :o)

3 Dec, 2010

Thanks terra for this lovely blog, I'm afraid I agree with Shirleytulip though...a scarf is not really enough on your poor little statue lol:-) Love all your pics and rhymes so it's going in my favs:-) Weather report, it snowed here again last night, I wonder when it will go? Quite deep now, hope my fish are ok, I melt the ice every day, but only small area:-)

4 Dec, 2010

Great blog, as always, Terra :o)))))) The boys are looking schnoofy and well.

4 Dec, 2010

Hello Bornagain... Thank you ..
I hope your fish are okay in this freezing weather ...

For the next snowfall, I have my statue's comfort in mind ... I'm planning to knit some cosy bedsocks ... colour co-ordinated to match the Trachelospermum jasminoides.. ;o)

Hi Pipc... Thanks.
I hope your doggies are schnoofy too :o) x

4 Dec, 2010

I'm sure he will be very grateful Terra:-) Fish are ok, snow thawing today: a little poem what I wrote myself:-)

:o)))

4 Dec, 2010

Great blog TT. Wonderful verse. Maybe now you've had your winter you'll have spring before the end of the year?????

4 Dec, 2010

Hi Gilli... I hope all is well with you ...

Thanks... hoping for springtime to start tomorrow morning ....
... about 8.30 am. ;o)))

4 Dec, 2010

BA, don't you have a rubber ball floating in your pond? It's supposed to stop the ice from closing & causing fish/plants dying from lack of oxygen.

TT, I don't think you should hold out much hope for spring as yet, we are forecast some sunshine tomorrow :-)) but on Monday it's back to the freezer! :-((

4 Dec, 2010

At least the plants might know it's winter this year! Be interesting to see the effect this 'early' snow has on all the plants in the spring. Reminds me of the lines in that carol, 'in the bleak mid-winter frosty wind made moan'. Have their been more berries than usual? Entertaining blof terr. Rgs, ptarotuos

5 Dec, 2010

Thanks Ptarotuos ...

The various pyracantha shrubs around my gardens had lots of berries but many already eaten by the birds ... Yes, it will be interesting to see the effect on the plants of this early snow and ice ...

and ... coincidence ... Yesterday I kept singing the first line of "In the Bleak Mid-Winter" ...

I'm pleased you like this blog. :o)

5 Dec, 2010

Hi Balcony, I hunted out the purpose made polystyrene thingy for the pond, sadly, after it had frozen:-( I have placed it on the pond and poured boiling water round it and it is helping:-) \0/ hello Terra:-)

A super blog! Great poem with wonderful winter photos!
I know the weather has been bad but the plus side (if there is one) is the photo opportunities that can be had.
More snow on the way and a white Christmas is a real possibility for many of us.

14 Dec, 2010
