Progress or plans

Looking at all your gardens I am a little embarrassed to be blogging about mine.

As mentioned in the profile etc we have just finished building a house so it is a blank canvas. A lot of our pictures are before shots. Hope it isn’t too long in the making until we have finished shots. But in the meantime it’ll be progress shots.

We are working on a couple of projects at the moment that I’ll focus on. The first is an outdoor sink. This is going outside our laundry at the back door and will be used for fish filleting (husbands hobby) and my gardening sink.

This is made out of Macrocarpa and will be oiled. Underneath there’ll be racks for “stuff”.

The second project is two block pillars to frame the entrance to our driveway. These pillars will be made out of the same block that the house is made of (we kept some especially for projects like this). They will also have lights to light up the corners. Once they’re done we can plant around them – see getting to the gardening part! You can just see the base of one of them down on the bottom right.

This last shot shows our side bank. We have just finished laying carpet over the entire thing and then covering in all this bark. It is huge! I bought flaxes and grasses and split them up and planted them along with a couple of trees (can’t see these because they are deciduous). The plants are so small, but wait till Spring – they’ll take off! Obviously I have a lot more to plant. I am working on my plant order that I hope to have ready for Spring.

Thank you everyone for your kind comments. It's so inspiring to have positive comments from like minded people! Especially from those of you who can see we have already done a lot. Sometimes we feel like we are working hard with no results.

We have done major garden makeovers in the past, so know results are possible. But it'll spur us on to know that people are watching the progress :)

Great stuff so far Teresa....doing blogs from the outset will really give you a chance to compare in the years to come. That bank will look super in to time at all, I'm sure :)
I'm imagining that those pillars will make a great entrance statement!

This is going to be interesting to follow! It's great to see a garden develop from scratch and it is clear already that this one is going to have real character given the setting and the lie of the land. All power to your elbow!
