Teds Corner is finally under way.

After many weeks of cold wet weather the sun finally came out over the weekend so at last my chance had arrived, I could get Teds Corner under way.

Paul bless him! helped me with the heavy work (gardening is not his cup of tea) and emptied the compost into the willow containers. He also put up the canes for the runner beans, while I planted up the Clematis and Agapanthus. I also planted up three Heucheras into large hanging baskets, which is a bit of an experiment. I will add some trailing begonias to accompany them later on in the season.

The daffodils and tulips I planted in the autumn are now starting to poke through in their tubs, giving me a hint that spring is on its way. While I was planting I notice one of the local cats was balancing on the willow containers legs akimbo, and he was managing to avoid the sticks I had put in the earth! I couldn’t believe it – talk about Houdini!! LOL. I chased him off and have now put netting around the canes. I just hope that stops them.

I have black cloth over the raised beds to warm the soil for the seed potatoes, this helps deter the cats. The arch for the roses and clematis has gone up now so Teds Corner is starting to take shape. I will let you know if it’s been mission imposable for the local cat population! cue music…

You have some great ideas, Teds. I'll be watching with interest how your corner develops. These willow planters (boxes) are new to me...have you made them yourself or do you buy them already made?

Hope you are successful with dissuading the cats from digging in your new planters!

What a cosy little place and it looks so well organised. You must have put in a lot of hard work - Well done !

It's great ! You have done well. It's going to be nice sitting there in the coming seasons. Good luck with your raised beds. I hope the cats leave them alone. I have my doubs about that though, but I hope you can deter them somehow.

Clever girl, it looks wonderfull! If you have neighbours accross the road, they must be delighted with the view of your revamped carport. It would be great if they followed suit, what a colourful place it would be! Well done Teds, that's a marvelous transformation!

be lovely for a street party!

Great idea stikitoffee! Depending on whether you can be bothered and do get on with your neighbours Teds, why not later in the year have a coffee morning for charity, or similar, that would bring them over for a visit to your lovely garden. I know I'd be delighted if one of my neighbours invited me!

Well as it happens Helenium and Stickitoffee we are having a street party for the Royal Wedding. We have all got together and weather permitting, have organized games, a raffle for charity, best hat and pudding competition and barbeque. I'm very lucky to live in a small court of 9 cottages. We all get on so very well, and go out together every Christmas for a game of skittles and supper. Last summer we did have the neighbours round for chicken and chips in a basket. Pam and Mervin live opposite the car port and are very keen gardens, they have a much bigger back garden than myself. We often swap plants and look after each other garden when we are away on holiday. Whistonlass I was lucky, I got the willow planters from green fingers wed site a bargain at £9, they have now gone up to £27 pound each. Thanks all for your lovely comments :)

Wow...you really bagged a bargain with your willow planters, Teds. I'm never in the right place at the right time for bargains....must up my game! lol

It looks like a lovely arrangement... and without all the weeding!

you have been busy, its all looking very nice. I love your wicker troughs.

Beverley I got the wicker troughs from greenfingers £9. Teds Corner is for growing veg as my back garden is so small, it used to be a parking space, not any more! LOL

Hi Labdancer is surprising what you can grow in pots. We had veg and spuds for about 12 weeks last year.
