Odianao .. that Palmetto tree is gorgeous ... why is Florida lousy with them?

I agree ... love the color .... I clipped two near the bottom of the stalk to give to a neighbor ... discovered yesterday that it has already begun to grow new shoots on those short stalks. These things grow at an amazing rate.

Hi Odianao .... you are so right ... we've only been here for 4 months and I am amazed at how you can just clip something and just stick it in the ground ... I'll let you know how the Mexican Heather does. :0) For the most part, everything we've planted has grown considerably and doing well .... glee!!!!!!! Off to check out what a Palmetto tree is .... LOL ...... I'm still learning.

Hi Dee and Jackie :0) .... Not for shade ... the pool is screened in and leads to a covered patio, so it just adds something beautiful to look at whether you are entertaining or just having some solitude time.... very peaceful. And ladies ........ I would die without that pool in this heat LOL so glad it looks inviting

ha,ha,ha ... my teenagers are all grown up, thank goodness. :0) Thank you for the great info ... I have to re-think when I plant ... what I use to love may not do so well in this area ... so I'll learning. Mine is exactly like yours ... I was amazed at how fast that twig grew in a pot ... I removed it and planted it in the ground. I hope it does well there. I would hate to lose it because it really is beautiful. Thanks again Odianao ... and have a great day!

That's a great idea ... think I'm going to do that with a high traffic area where the grass is dying, or maybe lay some flag stone. Really enjoying your pics. :0)

Thanks.... I was trying to create a small garden/patio entrance to the front door, that had a peaceful and welcoming feeling. Hope I achieved it. :0) Just added a little distressed bistro table with 2 chairs for extra ambience.

Thank you .... we were a bit dizzy picking out a plam for this area; so many to choose from (LOL) ... the height was crucial for us .... the Royal Palms, although beautiful, need an area where it can truly grow as it is quite large. So this was perfect for that area.

Hi - I was given a twig by a guy in a nursery; I stuck it in a pot and it grew large for 3 months. Suddenly blooms like this appeared, but they fall off pretty quickly. Don't know too much about it ... can you share some info. I'm new. Thanks.
