I just wanted to share a bit of good news with you. The Nursery I work at entered display of Dahlias at the New Forest Show it’s the first year we have entered and I am so pleased to tell you we have won a Gold Medal. It makes all the hard work that bit more rewarding. I myself have not been down as I’m at the nursery selling lots of Dahlias, I have not been able to put any photos yet hopefully I will get some tomorrow when my daughter-in-law goes.

That is excellent news. Congratulations to you all. Am looking forward to some pics.
I was wondering if you could ask someone at the nursery if it is usual for wasps to attack dahlias? I have had 2 stems of blooms stripped of its "bark" and some of the flesh. The only thing we can think of is that the wasps are either after the sugars in the sap and/or cellulose in the stems for their nests; but of course at this time of year they should be dying off not building nests!...I have spoken to a dahlia expert I know and he has not come across this before.....Thank you :))
