CORRECTING OLD MISTAKES !!!

Quite a few years back we had to cut down an old apple tree which left a large hole so we decided to enlarge this and make a pond. Stupidly we did this without thinking things over properly, the net result was quite a nice pond but with no access to the back fence as you can see here.

So yesterday we went to B&Q and got the timber to build a little bridge. We had a bargain as the decking planks we wanted were only £1.96 ea special offer, so altogether with our 10% discount the lot only came to £20.43. The weather was good so today hubby got started. Measuring and cutting the decking planks for the treads.

Great going, nearly there.

While hubby rested I gave it a coat of stain. All ready to put in place.

This is a sideways view.

Here it is full on. Thank goodness I can now get to the trellis, perhaps a new climber there would be nice.

I think a good days work was achieved all we need now is a nice evening meal with a glass of wine.

Now that looks really nice, it will soon look like it's always been there! It will give some protection to your fish too. Well done Hubby!

I agree with all that's been said, another good point is that it wont freeze under the bridge, especially if you throw an old rug on ti.

What a great solution to the problem! Definitely a new climber now. That would be a lovely focal point at the end of the bridge. :-))

Looks great Stroller. The pond is looking lovely already. I'm sure this weekend with the added hour will encourage you both, glass in hand to wander round the pond.

Yes that was our solution Valadel we used a scaffold plank until Terry loaned it out and couldn`t remember who to, needless to say we never got it back

.I`m just trawling through members photos Spritz looking for a suitable climber for East facing.

We did enjoy our meal and wine Linda although it was rather late for us at 8.30pm.

Thank you Hywel.

That's wonderful! Would that I could purchase a similarly talented husband on ebay! I just keep on bodging...congratulations both of you. I think east is the trickiest aspect for siting climbers - I'll be interested to see what you choose.

There are lots of clematis that would thrive there, for a start! Akebia quinata, too.
