Not a good begining to the year weather or healthwise but

despite my being unable to do very much in the spring due to ill health I think it has got along very nicely and would like to share it with you.
This is the white rose `margaret merrill`together with a couple of astrantia and a small tamarix planted last year not as good as yours Hywel but getting there.

next comes the left side patio with` dublin bay` rose and clem peeping thru is I think `dutchess of edinborough`.
!

lefthand side top bed.

continuing down the garden thru the arch we see roses Graham Thomas and Dixieland Linda and a honeysuckle climbing each side and Mortimer Sackler further back climbing the side fence.

once thru the arch we have a border running along the fence with my little folly and mixed planting,

Then comes the shadier area with a place to rest when the sun is at its hottest, older members will perhaps notice that the brick circle that was made here with some old bricks has been replaced with gravel as the frosts had begun to break them up and made them dangerous to walk on.

Having arrived at the back gate we now come to the working area, ie the greenhouse and shed.

Apple and pear tree

honeysuckle `sweet scentsation`and` newdawn`rose.

The pond and waterfall area with the new arbour hubby made standing proudly at the top,

and the new arbour viewed front on.

and lastely the top lefthand bed,

if you`ve managed to stay with this long blog you can now enjoy a well deserved cuppa , happy gardening all.

Looking very good Stroller hope you feel better soon x

that was a lovely stroll around Stroller, it's amazing how our gardens can look after themselves when we are not 100% mine has been neglected somewhat because I was ill for most of May and then got a cold and touch of bronchitis so no energy and only just back on form. Have managed to get the grass chopped today and some of the borders tidied up at last. Have really enjoyed being outside working in the garden if tired out now. It was good because it was bright but not hot and I am not a fan of hot weather for working outside in. Hope you are on the mend too, best wishes \;o0)

Stoller hope you are much better now.

Your garden is amazing so pretty I so enjoyed the stroll.

And do love your Arch ,did you get it made for you or was it bought?

Well, I. Think I will have a cuppa. I enjoyed that ever so much. I love your garden Phyl. Theres so much interest. You've made so much of every square foot. I particularly love your Fatsia...its so healthy and big and you've raised the canopy perfectly on it. Margaret Merrill is one of my new standard roses, with clematis Corinne (also new this year) and I can't wait to see them open. Its a beautiful rose! For saying you've been unwell, your garden is immaculately tidy. I'd better pull my socks up and get some weeding done tomorrow! :)

Everything looks wonderful Stroller ! What a lovely surprise for you ! I love Graham Thomas and unfortunately had to move mine in April when we put the new arch in as it wouldn't reach. We put it further into the garden to prevent it from getting blown over ! It has survived though and will probably have to wait until next year for flowers !
I love your pond and arbour seat ! I bet you will spend many happy hours in that !
I hope you are feeling better now !

Stroller, your garden is a delight! No one who didn't know you would realise you've not been hard at it every day. And great minds think alike, I couldn't help noticing you've painted your woodwork outside one of the colours I have chosen to use this year ;)

How lovely it all looks,Phyl, and there's nothing like a well stocked garden full of colour to lift the spirits...which you certainly have ,looking at your lovely well planned garden..We have a similar colour on our woodwork too..:o)
I've passed on the cuppa, and had a Crunchie bar instead ! Lol Take care, and thank you for sharing :o) x

Your garden is lovely. I hope you'll be feeling better with time, so that you can enjoy tending it :)

I agree with Hywel, I wish my garden was half as nice - the wilderness keeps trying to re-claim it I know I'm doomed but I won't go down without a fight. Feel better soon.

Such pretty areas in your lovely garden. I like the urn placed near the ferns and hostas. I also love Graham Thomas ......ours has only one flower on it so far but your looks beautiful!

I hope you are feeling better now and that your garden is giving you lots of pleasure and not too much work!

It looks smashing Stroller and I honestly don't think I could choose a favourite part, hope you are feeling better now, can't tell you to sit and relax in the garden this summer as I really do not think its arrived yet, only time will tell but we live in hope, if all else fails do what I've been doing and admire it from your armchair....

Your garden is lovely with a wonderful variety of plants. The Rose that I like is Dublin Bay. Can you tell me where you bought it because I have been searching for it since we came back from Ireland .
Hope you are making a good recovery.

Hi Ba, don`t know about the looking good as ever, been in the garden today laying down crazy paving and gravel path and my arthritis is killing me ... must stop doing such crazy things. Hope you are managing to cope.
Marjories I bought the Dublin Bay on line from Peter Beale Roses (bare root) about 4/5yrs ago and it always seems to perform well.

Thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful wander through your garden. What a delight!
Your hostas are looking good & the fatsia too.
I love New Dawn, had it at my last 3 homes, it always put on a good show & lasted all summer - then I'd move again.
Hope we get some warmer days & your arthritis settles down soon.

Thanks for your reply. I will order a bare root one in the Autumn.
