ANOTHER chip of an old log -

This is in response to Funguys blog when I made the comment that my OH had taken six months on his log.
This was sawn of our Eucalyptus tree when it was taken down and boy is it hard to chisel out.

As you can see we need to chisel out at least another 3/4 inches deep, maybe ready for next spring.lol.

now that really does look like hard work to me,

Exactly what I was doing yesterday! except with a cherry tree - started well with a rip saw but I am sure it had a steel pole in the centre - samn half went to sledge hammer it - no weaker , chiseled it, hammered it, sawn it, 3 half hours and eventually snapped. I was getting a little hot blooded ;D

Glad you also sorted yours :)))

Has hubby not got any woodcutting bits for the drill Stroller, you`d get it done in half the time, I mean the ones that are shaped like arrows, ( don`t know the proper name) they whizzed into our old plum tree when we turned it into a planter, then we just shaped it with the chisels...

Good idea Lincslass! We have those for our drill and they are wicked!

They are also lethal Karen..Can you tell I love hubby`s tools..

Lincslass, yes we have a box full but they were loaned to someone and we cant remember who it was, we have lost so many tools this way that we now jot the name of the tool and who borrowed it on the calender.

Oh gosh, that happens here on a regular basis, costs a fortune replacing them all...

He must have some patience, your hubby.

I agree with Lincslass, one of those arrowheaded drills would do the job in half the time. Failing that, to save you poor hubbys hands, you could level it off and attach wooden rounds to act as multi layered shelves to house pots of plants. It will look interesting whatever you decide to do with it.

Well its certainly coming along, stroller. Its sure to look great when you have it planted. Good luck with it and i would be more than willing to help if i could but looks like your doing just fine. Look forward to seeing the finished product.
