Mainly for Hywel

I thought you’d like to see two of the fuchsias you gave me a few years ago.

Delta’s Sarah (looks much better enlarged but then you can’t see the whole plant and you know what it looks like anyway) Its one of my favourites.

Zulu King – done very much better this year after a slow start.
You can just see good old Dollar Princess behind it.

Wharfedale from Potash Nurseries is this years favourite but I’m not loyal to my favourites and they change from year to year…

That's wonderful Sue, I'm very pleased to know they're doing well. They look better than any of mine. It hasn't been a good year for mine this year.

Delta's Sarah is very pretty, I'm not surprised it's your favourite, and Zulu King has a lovely shape.
Wharfedale is a nice one too, I looked it up, never heard of it before.

I wonder why they haven't done well Hywel? Yours look good Stera, but I have some sad looking garden varieties and one (non-hardy) in a pot which hasn't attempted to flower yet - leaves, no flowers.

I like the dainty Delta's Sarah which is looking really pretty. The second photo is lovely too.

That's disappointing Hywel -any idea why? I had never heard of Wharfedale either - I only got it to make up the half dozen you have to order from Potash Nurseries - I only really wanted Celia Smedley but you know how it is...
anyway it was a good choice. Paula Jane from my sister in Scotland has flowered longest this year as she got off to an very early start but she's lost a lot of leaves as if something has been eating them - can't see what though.

Thank you 3d and Wildrose. Honeysuckle what a shame yours haven't done well, especially the miserable one that didn't flower at all - hope you have had some stern words with it! Mine got off to a very slow but once they got going have all been really good and are still going strong - perhaps they have enjoyed all the rain!

My whole garden has been hopeless this year Sue, not only the Fuchsias. I think the soil needs some fertilizing.

I had Celia Smedley - beautiful ! ... but I planted her in the ground, and because so many didn't flower at all this year I don't know if she is still there, or if she's one of the ones with no flowers.

Why, Hywel, that can't be true - I've seen your pictures, your garden was fabulous!

Lovely Fuchsias, Sue! I grew 'Sarah's Delta' one year & also 'Dollar Princess'. I 'd like to grow them both again.

The 4 half standards I was given earlier this year by my friend, Dick, from church haven't really done at all well. They seemed to have more or less sat still & sulked all summer. One died but Dick later gave me another, not knowing that one had died on me. That has reacted just like the others. I hope I can get them to survive the winter in the hopes they will do better next year.

My ONE success story of the year is my 'Lady Boothby' cutting - that is now over 6ft tall! I took the cutting last autumn & kept it alive all winter then in the spring I planted it out in a big square tub on the balcony & it just took flight! It shares the same tub with 4 other cutting I took at the same time & were all transplanted at the same time. The others have done reasonably well but nothing like her!

Thank you Greenfinger, but it wasn't as good as usual. It's also very overgrown and needs a revamp.
