Coffee morning coming up

I thought I’d have a go at raising some stuff for a plant sale, but am a bit dubious because people generally seem only to want stuff that’s in flower, and the ageratums are nowhere near it yet. Anyway if they don’t sell I should have a terrific blue haze in the garden this summer!

The petunias amused me because the plugs from Tesco were labelled Yellow Petunias. Well, they were reduced as they were wilting, but that doesn’t normally change the colour…

Here are some pics – nothing I’m proud of but keep your fingers crossed for me a week on Tuesday!

I’ve also put in a few shots of stuff in the garden – again nothing special but we all have to start somewhere.

Do you like my cat mint protector?

this is Johnson’s Blue ready for the sale

These are the yellow petunias!

This is the anti cat device…

…and this is why

And this is here because it ’s so peaceful looking

And this one because I only just got it and this is its first flower!

Good luck with the sale. I love the anti cat device, I recently bought a cat mint and the cats shredded it and within 2 days it was gone.

Your flowers are lovely and I hope you have a good plant sale.

Re the catmint, I have some but Molly my cay has taken to eating it on one side, but it's not too bad. I bought for her anyway, really, and the rest of it is going strong, so that can't be bad.

Mariek, Mine was for the cats too, but without the hanging basket it never gets the chance to grow at all. This way they can lean on the basket instead of rolling around on the plant, and eat the bits that poke through without doing any damage.

Kfunsters, why not try again - someone you know might have an old basket if you haven't.

Thanks for the good wishes both of you.

Very good catmint protector Steragram! You'd pay a fortune for a nicely rusted plant support like that at Chelsea!! If you don't mind I'm going steal that idea for some of my hummocky plants that get all splayed out in the middle as they grow, the wee basket would be brill at keeping them more upright, and then they could just grow on through! Thanks for the idea! I love your 'purplyellow' petunias, and if nobody buys your ageratum, well, it's going to be their loss! They look like grand wee plants, and I'll bet they'll make a beautiful show! Good luck with the sale!
By the way, your Kitty is beautiful! Looks like butter wouldn't melt!

Yes, but butter certainly would! He came to us as a mature cat and we called him Herbie, short for Herbert. Because where we come from an awkward person is sometimes known as "a right Herbert!"

I love the idea of paying a fortune for a rusty old basket - obviously missed my way in the commercial world. Hope it works for your hummocky plants. Those commercial plant supports cost a bomb.

Your kitty looks a dead ringer for our kitty, Lucy :) I'm going to be planting some catmint in our revamped garden so will see if Lucy smothers it too...and if so, put your idea into practice. Thanks for the tip.

Good luck with your coffee morning and plant sale (well actually I suppose you've had it this week...maybe even today?)...lol I'm coming to your blog just a bit late!

Will check and see if i have any baskets that looks a good idea.
Nice blog all round, thanks

Good luck then, Bjs - it really does work a treat. Worth even buying a basket, as it stays in place all year round so workdsout cheaper than keeping replacing the plant in the long run!
