Hottest June18th ever. Our low of 68f is near a nice high temperature most spring days.
So,May was above average and June might be also. What a year of extremes.
SO far..ice water and fans. Holding up..lol.

Too hot for me. Got so much to do in the garden, but it has been too hot. Went out in the garden at 6am on Sunday to try and get some work done but I was still too hot so didn't get much done unfortunately.

Oh dear Stan. How do you survive?

19 Jun, 2017

Anything over 30° and my OH and I wilt. The last two days have reached over 35°...we're wilting lol!

We put the air conditioning on at night. Some summers in the past we never needed to use it the whole year. Lately, its been more and more we go to it.

Daytime heat- I can fan it out...but sleeping? It has to be cooler. I'm not getting any younger and I don't radiate the heat away like I used too. The usual reasons why!

Its good the UK is getting toasty warm. As Ray Davies might say "Come Dancing weather!"

Stan, I know just how you feel. Even with the windows wide open, I'm still wet through at night.

3d: I'm doing my best!!

Stan and Waddy dont eat food with salt or sugars in them prior to bed time . If the air is warm like now keep windows closed and draw the curtains block out the sun use only pure cotton sheets and pillow cases or night wear if you wear it lol I dont which you could place in the freezer sheets pillow . We will have to go to Wylie in the Azores he has rain today.

I hate to think how the farmers are coping they said in May they needed rain desprately as no rain in April so food will go up in price no doubt.

We had records snowpack...this heat has caused huge snowmelts. So,not good for water storage in California.
This heat really is a one- of for its duration.

Is that off the mountains where Andy was telling me about that goes in to the Emerald lake your drinking water or where you store your water Stan .
Lets hope it is a one off.

3d our salt and sugar intake is very low anyway. I keep the bedroom window shut and the blinds closed. We do have cotton sheets...and I'm not telling what I wear in bed. We are in a bungalow so I try to create a through draft by opening the back and front doors as well as some windows. A little better to night as it seems to have cooled down a bit.

19 Jun, 2017

Good idea creating through draft yes its getting a little cooler here to.

There are quite a few sources for this huge state Penny. Mine would be from Hetch Hechy reservoir out of Yosemite Valley. Its part of the San Francisco water districts and is high quality water- runoff from granite.
Not sure about San Diego..its probably a mix of Sacramento river up north and Colorado river to the east.

Then, you have an area across the bay from SF,like Marin and Sausalito that actually depend on rains to fill small lakes.
I don't know how they do that. Its part of their no growth reasoning too.

Quite a lot of water resorces then The Emerald lake is where Andy use to live not sure where his comes from now he says he buys his drinking water as the mains taste horrid.

Whew- hot in the UK is making USA news. You told me..but I see its been a scorcher there.
Yesterday was the last of the latest heatwave. Our usual hot 3 days and then cooling fog..became a week..and no fog, just cooler.

23 Jun, 2017

Yes Stan it has been hot here so did nt you nelieve me???

I bet your glad its the last and then went cooler.

24 Jun, 2017

Much cooler today Penny- that San Francisco fog had reached us by this morning. Still a sunny day and mild.
When you grow up in a moderate climates, 40c is a real test.

24 Jun, 2017

Thats great Stan its cooler today for you . That fog is a sight to see .
It nice to have a mild sunny day we dont get much of them here lol I bet its a test but then could you stand our weather here lol.

24 Jun, 2017

I did the conversion- it was more of a 38C heat wave at its worst.
I couldn't take that all summer.

25 Jun, 2017
