I really wish I would get in the habit of taking photo’s of the before so you could see the difference in the after. I’ve spent a few hours a day for a few now cleaning out the weeds aka the evil Vinca major, dead and greed weed grasses,removing old dead leaves off of a Sago palm inmy small front yard. It takes time also to get in and remove rotting or worse- wooden old Magnolia leaves that had built up at the base of succulents that hate a mulch of any kind. Causes rot.
Its been all hand and hand tools.
I bet some people walked by my house and never knew I had a Sago palm!..and its 3’ tall.
The Vinca has been my enemy for 40 years and this is my best attempt to kill it off..I even have sprayed roundup on what I cant pull out. Its going to take repeated use as Vinca leafs hardly absorb the poison.
Lets see,Pruners,hand pruners,Hula Hoe aka scuffle hoe. a rake with fine teeth ( a very old type they dont even make anymore) to get in between tight spots. Broom, Maddock,shovel, Tree saw. Heavy duty gloves.
All for a 6’ wide and 30 ’ long strip of yard.
Some lizards were a little upset..but plenty of room to hide still left!

Thanks all. I'm still at it-oh boy.
Plus,I have a huge Ash tree that insists on being the first tree in the northern hemisphere to drop leaves. It started in late August..just dribbling a mess until the end of October.
Rake and broom almost every day.
But,I planted it myself in 1978 as a stick in the ground.
lol- dropping leaves in what is our hottest MONTH, sometimes,September?. Many a time I'm raking in 33C heat.

Our paths are covered with leaves and they can just stay there - far to many to be doing it every day! To some extent the wind blows them into little heaps---at least that's what I tell myself, lol. From where I'm sitting I can see big bunches of sycamore keys just waiting to fall off but I'm going to look the other way...

I was on my porch puttering,and a young man and his young son walked by "Look! I saw it!" said the 8 year old or so. He saw a lizard. The reptiles like my front yards rocks and early warm up.
