Can anyone help identify an unknown bush/plant please ?

This was in the front garden when I moved in and I have no idea what it is or why there are hardly any flowers !
It is now about 5ft tall and has these tiny pink flowers, but they seem to die as soon as they arrive , mainly its just sticks.
Anyone know if it can be brought back to life or is it too far gone…I’m thinking of cutting it right down and seeing what happens but thought I’d ask advice first :)
I need to do something as its not pretty enough as it is to stay right on my front wall.

This looks like a Viburnum Bodnantense. It looks like it could be encouraged by judicious pruning. Perhaps someone else can guide you on this - my one is a young one and it has flowered prolifically this year and pruning is not a problem yet.
At its best this is a very beautiful plant.

Thank you so much Ojibway :)
I have researched and alternatives are to cut oldest branches at ground level and spread job over 3 years or cut it all right back and sacrfice flowers next year.
I think it needs drastic action so ...Its the hard way !! as I dont get flowers worth looking at anyway.
its a shame the people in my house before didnt 'do' gardening so it just got left to its own devices.
Cant wait to see and smell how its supposed to be.

You will enjoy it, I promise! The flowers last for weeks and the scent is wonderful. Good luck with it. It really is worth saving.
