12 Apr, 2010

"Don't it make my brown eyes BLUE"....... brilliant selection of blue flowers, made me realize I might have lost starry eyes again, enjoyed them Barbara.

12 Apr, 2010

Blue is my favourite colour, especially the mauvy side of blue. Lovely photos Spritzhenry. I hope the blue sky lasts a while aswell :o)

13 Apr, 2010

Lovely show Spritz :))

13 Apr, 2010

I wonder which version of it you like best, Guy Mitchel's or Tommy Steel's. Happy Days. Blue has always been my favourite colour, can't get enough of it. Once at Tatton Park RHS show someone displayed a whole garden of blue and white, it was stunning. I'm glad you've put A. de caen at the top though the Veronica is nice too.....they're all nice. Have you thought of making a 'blue' area in your garden?

13 Apr, 2010

Beautiful blues, Spritz !

13 Apr, 2010

A gorgeous array of blue Spritz :))

13 Apr, 2010

Thanks, folks - glad you enjoyed 'the blues'...:-))

Heron, I suppose it's Guy Mitchell, tho' Tommy Steele's version was a bit 'bouncier'!! Hard to decide without hearing them again!

No - I don't think I have a yearning to dig up the current planting to make a 'blue' border, really, much as I like the colour.

13 Apr, 2010

Wow! I really enjoyed that! A particular favourite....'starry eyes'!

13 Apr, 2010

Such a lovely selection of 'Blues' in your garden. : o ) )

Beautiful Spritz. Blue is my favourite flower colour, and you have so many of them, they're gorgeous.
Your plants are way ahead of our's too. Although the sun is out we have a very cold breeze and I don't think the plants like that any more than I do.
Lovely photos, a real treat, thankyou.

13 Apr, 2010

my fav colour too ,photo's are really nice,

13 Apr, 2010

Thank you, all :-))

Great, they seem to do equally well in pots, or in the soil in semi shade or sun. I planted the corms of all mine in the autumn of each year and they come up faithfully every year at this time. I think you can plant corms now for autumn flowering, too.

13 Apr, 2010

Lovely photos Spritz....very heartening!

13 Apr, 2010

I think most of us have a spot spot for Blue in the garden, lovely photo's,thanks for sharing them. Also for the laughs on comments

Sbg..have you been overdoing the purple sprouting broccoli ?and Joanella, note, I wrote "photo's",in case I did the same as you :o)))

13 Apr, 2010

As Ringo Starr once said, you gotta pay your dues inf you wanna sing the blues! Looks like you definitely have paid your dues! Breathtaking! I love blue flowers. Stunning array.

13 Apr, 2010

You sure are ahead of my garden. I just have some iris and a few hosta's that have broken through the earth. Can't believe you have that many blue flowers. They are beautiful. Can't imagine how many picture you would be showing if you were showing all colors.

13 Apr, 2010

All beautiful.

13 Apr, 2010

Spritz, Can all the primrose family bloom in the shade? Also do you know if some of them bloom later in the season? Like after the 1st of May which is when I get up to my garden in North Carolina.

13 Apr, 2010

you have some lovely blue flowers there..................

13 Apr, 2010

Thanks folks for the lovely comments!

Valerie, no, I don't think that all primroses thrive in shade - some certainly do, though. The large flowered bright decorative ones like the sun. Yes, several bloom later on - I have some that are only leaves at the moment, with no sign of flowers yet. - my P. florindae, P. viallii, P. bulleyana plants are like that.

13 Apr, 2010

So many beautiful blue flowers.

13 Apr, 2010

I was surprised, Carol! I've missed out several, as well!

13 Apr, 2010

Reminded me of my favourite old group - yes, the Moody Blues!!! Loved their early music - love your blue flowers.

13 Apr, 2010

Great plants you`ve come up trumps again Spritz.

13 Apr, 2010

I can think of several songs we could sing - all with 'blue' in the first line - or do you want to stick with 'Moody Blues' songs, Wagger? LOL.

Thanks, Stroller! :-)))

13 Apr, 2010

Lovely blog Spritz - beautiful shades & I too remember listening to Guy Mitchell "singin' the blues" as a young lass. My parents had a lot of his music.

13 Apr, 2010

14 Apr, 2010

Many thanks Barbara - this is completely inspiring. I really want some blue to lift the cream and yellow. I dont understand why your Corydalis is out and ours is so far behind though. I dont know Ipheion at all - may be a new one to check out!

14 Apr, 2010

They grow from bulbs, Sarah. 'Rolf Fiedler' is reputed to be less hardy than some of the others, though.

I'm glad you enjoyed it - did it take your mind off your ankle for a while - I hope?

14 Apr, 2010

LOL, have missed your humour Spritz! No, PC fine, just been busy in the garden and then too cream crackered to log in with you all lol!! Am now playing catch-up ha ha :~)) Ps, it's good to be back lol x

16 Apr, 2010

Thanks, Bryony, and welcome to GOY. :-))

Poor Flori - get your winter woollies back on - your shorts and T-shirt are not suitable...yet...LOL.

16 Apr, 2010

Guess we are being a bit optimistic thinking Winter is finished with us yet, as it is only April, but it has felt like such a long long Winter...........am investing in a double pair of thermally heated long-johns, as just had a Penguin waddle through my pond lol!!!!

16 Apr, 2010

Did you get a photo? lol.

16 Apr, 2010

No unfortunately, my zoom got frosted over as I whipped it out of my camera bag, but it must be cold over here, as he still had his wrapper on over his sixpack lol :~))

16 Apr, 2010

He must have been Blue with the cold!

16 Apr, 2010

Don't know about him Mavis, but I was turning a lovely shade of the blues Spritz has posted here lol!!!

16 Apr, 2010

You're unlucky then - it's been a lovely day today! no, not 'very' warm, but I was working outside without a coat or fleece on -and I didn't turn blue!! lol.

16 Apr, 2010

Think you Somerset lot are hardier than us wiltshire-ites Spritz! lol :~))

16 Apr, 2010

I usually feel the cold - but there wasn't a wind, so it was quite pleasant out there.

16 Apr, 2010

The wind was quite nippy here today but if you followed the sun it was fine, I got loads done .I have seen a ladybird a butterfly and a frog I nearly got him with my fork.

16 Apr, 2010

Eeeek! I'm glad you didn't, Mavis! Yes - I've seen several butterflies around - a yellow brimstone, a painted lady (I think) and a peacock. Only one ladybird, though. I could do with them - there are greenfly on my plants. Grrr...

16 Apr, 2010

I moved him to safety they love to hide under the geraniums so when I need to work there, I keep an eye out for them,I usually make a cuppa and that gives them time to move.

16 Apr, 2010
