I'M BACK!

Hi everyone! I hope you missed me – I’ve really missed GOY over the last week or so – yes, I have been hit by the dreaded flu bug! Many thanks to those who sent me messages – they did cheer me up!

I am still staying in the warm and that rumbling noise you can hear isn’t a train, it’s my chesty cough!

But now I feel up to continuing the series of blogs I began last year – so I have written part 3 of my series on Winter Interest. Oh, dear, poor you – two blogs in one evening!

By the way – I missed saying HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all – so here it is now!

Now you've got me scared! Husband has also had flu and we are coughing at each other...

Hi Spritzhenry.
I thought you'd gone away for the new year like you did over Christmas.
Sorry to hear you've been unwell. I hope you'll feel better soon.
Maybe you could write lots more lovely blogs for us while you are recovering. ( You don't want to go out in this cold weather after having the flu ! ) It would pass the time for you, but don't overdoo it. :o)

Great advice Hywel make sure u take it Spritz :)

Happy new year Spritz, get better soon.
Youre not missing much outside it's freezing.

6 Jan, 2009

Hehe, Hywel, - I DID! I had the photos craftily filed so I haven't had to go outside in the c-c-c-cold! Please, please read my part 3 blog - or I really will feel you've all forgotten me :-(

Sadly, we had to abandon plans to see our son and granddaughters. There's a pile of pressies sitting there undelivered. I suppose they'll get them eventually.

Thanks, Trees, BTW.

Hi sorry read the other blog first, so you did go down with the lurgi, hope you will make a rapid recovery, I should stay indoors with a hot toddy and look at gardening books with a view to buying something new and exciting for 09.....

happy new year, and welcome back, ofcourse you have been missed, infact just sent you a PM wondering how you are doing, must be a witch! lol....and now on to that winter interest blog....xx

7 Jan, 2009

Suggest you ask your doctor for flu jabs next year - not a guarantee but seems to have protected us for the last few years. Keep up the hot toddies and a very happy New Year to you.

7 Jan, 2009

I DID have a flu jab - so did my husband (his was for the first time). I've been having them since I developed Asthma some years ago. Maybe it's a different strain of flu??? Whatever, it didn't work THIS year!

7 Jan, 2009

Hi Spritz so pleased your feeling better, and yes i missed you, but thought you may have gone away for new year.

7 Jan, 2009

Happy New Year. Glad you are feeling a bit better. It is a nasty bug, I also had it, 2/3 weeks it seems to be lasting.

7 Jan, 2009

And there's me thinking that bugs get killed off by cold weather... or is that just in gardens? lol.

7 Jan, 2009

Happy New Year Spritz. Nice to see you back. I had the flu jab for the first time this year so, instead, developed the worst cold I'd ever had! I sometimes wonder if it's worth bothering with preventative medicine as it rarely seems to work. Mine started Boxing Day night and I'm still having bad nights with coughing and being unable to breathe. Even wonderful coffees called "carajillos" in this region - black coffee with brandy - purely medicinal of course :)) haven't put paid to the final lurking germs. I think I shall have to get to grips with the local firewater - Orujo - which the locals all claim cures ANYTHING but then, as it takes the lining off your throat and tongue on its way past and renders you senseless for several hours maybe that's what they call "cured?" Hope your cough clears up soon. Best wishes xx

I think I'm 'senseless' enough already, thanks, Nariz!

Sorry to hear you have had the 'bug' as well - it does seem to be world-wide, doesn't it! Get well soon.

Paul's son is very generous, he comes home for some TLC whenever he is feeling poorly and goes off hail and hearty leaving us nurturing his bugs. He gave us a corker in September which hung around for weeks, Paul just managed to rid himself of it in time for Christmas.
On Christmas Day his son + flu bugs came for lunch but only son left. Paul took to his bed for three days, an unheard of phenomenon! He is still barking every time he moves.I was lucky, the bug didn't get much of a hold.
Take care of yourselves and get well soon. Here's wishing you the best of health for the rest of 2009.

Thanks, Xela. It was my 7-year old grandson who kindly gave us our bug for Christmas! I wish he hadn't.

I still haven't been out except to check the greenhouse this afternoon - and gasp with horror at plant casualties on the way!

Welcome back Barbara and YES I did miss you. I noticed your absence after about three to four days. I hope you're back to feeling 100% real soon. A very Happy and HEALTHY New Year to you and yours.

9 Jan, 2009

Yes, we wondered where you had got to.
Glad to see you are getting back to business.
Happy New Year and hope the flu bug keeps well away from everyone.
Keep warm.

Oh dear, I missed this before - hope you are now feeling MUCH better Barbara! ALL my family have colds at the mo - I will be next no doubt about that ;-) HYN!

12 Jan, 2009

Thanks, Sid - it is unfortunately hanging on and on. I thought I'd be OK driving to church yesterday - but I hadn't realised that of course I have been well-wrapped up in the warm for 2 weeks and the church felt FREEZING. I was wobbly, too, so I sat for most of the service. I slept all the afternoon!

I do hope you don't get it - it is NOT nice!

12 Jan, 2009

Hello Barbara, Sorry you are still feeling wobbly, but that said you are certainly back on song in the question department.
It has been pouring with rain all day here so instead of going to work I am "slaving" away over a hot computer.
Hope you will be flu free very soon.
