Thanx for all your comments, I'm going to be filling it up this weekend! I did wonder why my mum got me to move the 10 plants that used to be in that space hehe! It's a great shed, and has a really good long bench inside so I can stand me seeds on it - very useful! Lucy :-)

Always remember my top secret for a bargin maple is to buy it from the local diy store in the winter, they knock the prices down to half price on them as the trees have lost all their leaves and people just think that they are dead, when really they are very much alive. Test the bark by carefully scraping a bit to make sure it is green and when you get it home and in it's place cover with fleece to protect from frost, next year your tree will be bloomin marvellous! Lucy :-)

Love the photo, it's so beautiful :-)

To be honest I think the best way is to protect all cabbages with fleece, I've had same problem this year and also suffered with slug damage to the leaves. Once the caterpillers attack there's just no stopping them. Best wishes Lucy

I decided to stick a cane in next to them, as we can get really strong wind and I didn't want to risk them being broken :-)

We had the same problem, but ours was because the neighbours cat was doing it's business up the tree.

Hello, you could plant a variety of different lettuces, tom thumbs a good one, as it's small like size of a tennis ball, and there's a new one called dazel which is very nice looking - puple I think?! but both suitable for small areas. There is also a new pea called "half pint" that can be grown in container, i've got mine growing in a small pot and it seems to be going okay. If I think of anything else I'll let you know... Happy growing!

Best wishes Lucy :-)

Hi Peter,

Love the photos they're brilliant, what camera do you have? I don't like slugs nor snails but whilst I'll throw the slugs I usually leave the snails and if they're on the pavement I always move them out of harms way, as I don't like to see them get stepped on! hee hee :-)

I have 7 now and still collecting! :-)

Hmmm well I bought one of those sonic sounding devices, it's battery operated and you just place it in the ground then when the cats come it scares them away, but after a while they got used to it and so it stopped working and was expensive too. I found that if you have any rose bushes, when you cut them down it's quite good to place the thorny stems on the ground area where the cats come and they don't like it cos it's too spikey for them, other than that we result to using a spray bottle filled with plain water which we squirt near the cat to frighten it away out of our garden :-)

Hi, bay tree's are normally an evergreen so the leaves don't usually go brown. Is your tree in the ground or a pot? If it's in a pot it may be that it's been over-watered, or it could be if it's in an exposed site the wind and cold have got to the tree... If there's frost forcast then you need to cover the tree with fleece to protect it. Hopefully the brown leaves should grow back normal next year, so I don't think you need to worry too much about it. Hope this helps a bit :-)

love this flower, so pretty and delicate with the perfect added touch of a busy bumble bee - lovely!

Hi, yes it's the wind that's caused the tips of the leaf to curl, I've had exactly the same problem with my 2 green acers this year, as since we moved up to Chesterfield the wind is a lot stronger than it was down in Leamington Spa. Don't worry thou the leaves will drop off in winter and new shoots will apear next year, just move it back in a shady sheltered spot :-)

I just use a black/green fly killer spray from Wilkinsons and that did the trick! :-)

Hi, my toms "black cherry" are still green at the moment and although there are plenty on each plants I'm getting worried they're not going to ripen. I've not grown this type of tom before usually grow gardeners delight as they always do well. I got my seeds off ebay :-)

Thanx for replying, do you think I can cook the leaves that have grown before throwing the rest of the plant away?

If I remove the flower will the cabbage still grow to normal chinese cabbage or do I have to harvest it now before the seed sets?

Thanx I'll pop some netting on tonight, don't want them to get munched on anymore.

Here here, Tigrella was the very first type of tomato I ever grew and the flavour was lovely, your pic reminds me of happy days!

Hi Peter, thanx for making the site so good, nice simple and easy to access and use, great changes and a seed swap section would be fun too :-) I really enjoy gardening and always have pleasure visiting this site and seeking advice from more experienced members.

Thank you very very much!

Hi Holly,

I love your Aquilegia, I think it's a lovely pic and a fav flower of mine. In fact I'm about to download a pic of my next door neighbours one, but my camera isn't very powerful so it's come out bit blurred. What camera did you use to take this pic? :-)

sorry can't post the leaf photos on here, they're both on my main page along with the other photos I've taken of the garden :-)
