Come in For Dinner.

Did I say ….. You are dinner!

My latest Sarracenia, has not spent time outside as it was only small when I got it and the weather has been chilly. That has not stopped it enticing flies to enter the old pitchers.

Unfortunately no matter how hard the fly tried it could not get in, and got its head stuck.

So had to back out, to live another day.

The taller growth is new and there is no entry into these pitchers as yet. I have now put it outside as there are more little midge type flies outside.

My grandma would always say "eyes are bigger than stomachs" if I left food on my plate.

Did make me smile seeing the fly stuck! Having sheep in the field next to us means that in the summer we get over run with flies that maybe I should consider getting a few.

Jen, I think they must attract flies inside if you keep them indoors.

Thats a shame, will have to go back to the idea of putting insect netting over all the windows and fly screens on the doors like you see on TV on American programs. Last summer hubby killed tons in one night. We had what was like a swarm of them come into the house. He used nearly of whole can of spray. Trouble is I do like all my windows and doors open in the nice weather.

Jen, It is a tonic to have fresh air in the house, when the weather is clement. I have a small electrocuter which I put in the kitchen to help kill flies for the summer.

We plan to get a couple and also get some fly screens for windows and doors. All around us is farming so flies get really bad.
