The woodland tulip! Introduced back in 1597 by 'humorous accident' into monastic vineyards - it was attached to the tangled roots of the vines that monks imported to the monasteries! The bulb soon naturalised in the UK and is often seen today growing on riverbanks up and down the country. This dainty, wild tulip is recognised by its pointed yellow petals and its wonderful fragrance. A real treat for the garden!
