Off GoY for a while

Some long-standing GoY members may recall I suffered a heart attack back in 2012.

I had a second one last Monday lunchtime, at home, following a really pleasant couple of hours gardening for our son in the morning.

I underwent a coronary angiogram, had more ECG’s and blood taken than I care to remember, have been put on different meds. and have to have more tests in the coming weeks.

At least I didn’t have further stents as the one I have is not ‘furred up’ and didn’t need ‘de-scaling’ as the doctor so plainly put it!

I shall look in now and again to see how your gardens are growing, meanwhile there will be much sitting and looking at the garden, no doubt with this one for company too!

Happy gardening everyone … here’s wishing for many sunny days ahead.

Oh Shirley, being one of the newer members I didn't know and I'm so sorry to hear it has happened a 2nd time. Must have been very scary for you and your family. Sending you all my well wishes and that after your enforced rest, that you feel much better. Most importantly, take care of yourself and good luck with the tests. Jen x

Don't stint on the relaxing and resting, they are telling that for a reason. The cat will be happy to have a settled lap instead of one that keeps jumping up to do things.
Rest up and keep an eye on us all, but no gardening!

Thanks Terra, Gg, Jen and Honeysuckle ... certainly was a shock last Monday! I shall find it difficult to watch the garden grow, rather than being active in it, but needs must. :o)

Sorry to hear your news Shirley. You got over the other attack so you'll get over this one ... just do as the professional people advise and you'll be fine. Everything takes time.
You've got someone to keep you company too :)

I wish you all the very best also Shirley, just take things slowly.

Oh Shirley I am so sorry, as already said you beat it once and can do so again, the stent being ok is good surely, so hoping you get good results from the tests and its not as bad as at first seemed, I hope you are feeling a lot better now, I know you won't like it as you're always on the go but rest is the only option isn't it, plenty of reading material at hand and sit and enjoy watching the others for a while, mainly you keep those spirits up Shirley, a huge hug is winging your way, willing your return soon but only when you are feeling up to it.. Take care Shirley, xx..

Oh Shirley, how scary for you - I'm so sorry you've had to go through all that again. Frustrating for you, too, to have to take things easy, but of course you must. We all want you to take care of yourself, and hopefully you can enjoy looking at everyone's posts meanwhile.

Sending love and hugs, and get better soon. xx

Oh my, thank you all so very much for your kind words and good wishes. I had a phone call this afternoon from a chap on the Cardiac Physio/Rehab team, inviting me to go along to the gym in a couple of weeks to setup an exercise plan. A short walk this morning tired me out! ... :o(

Well, Shirley, plenty of good advise already given above so I will just say practise being a supervisor for a while, a stash of good books & a couple of gardening mags will help pass the time & we are all wishing you a speedy recovery. x

Such encouraging comments from my GoY friends ... thank you all so much.

We have just cancelled a booked 5 day break to Devon, should have left tomorrow, to include visiting RHS Rosemoor. A great shame, but a sensible decision as I am feeling quite tired through the day.

Oh Shirley, so sorry to read this - what a way to meet you! I'm glad you didn't need descaling but how hard to have to cancel your holiday. I hope you will feel great again soon and be able to rebook and enjoy travelling again when you are up to it.
