British Summer ...

It has certainly been a mix of weather today … started off with blue sky and warm sunshine … just right for a spot of gardening.

Rained hard after lunch … OH not impressed having washed the car this morning.

Sun came out to play again … then there was a really loud boom of thunder accompanied by a hail storm!

I know the expression is “Good for the garden” but enough’s enough … I need sunshine not hail in August!

I hope the weather is better wherever you may be.

We had a mixture here too, Shirley, just like you. Spent a sunny morning washing every pot in the greenhouse (one more job done before the move); then heavy rain, and now it's a beautiful warm, sunny evening! Just glad I'm not employed as a weather forecaster :)

No Shirley..its not I'm afraid. Its been cold here all day. Showers again. Very autumnal. Really could do with some warmth. Anything above 17c would be great!

We've had a fine day all day, got washing dry, some sunshine as well, so have spent some time outdoors, but it's so changeable isn't it.

I couldn't agree more.... not hail in August, luckily it missed us , but we got rain and thunder.

I'm sorry you had thunder and hailstones. We didn't have those but it has been cold. I'm fed up with it being cold.
We went to our local town this afternoon. I defied the weather ... wore shorts and a short sleeved shirt ... and a warm fleece lol :D

Thunder and hail here in Wales sunshine in between very windy , seeing garden furniture in the rain always make me feel sad but Hywel you cheered me up with your defiant attitude to the weather and there is nothing more cheerful than a warm fleece 🙂 love mine .

lol ... I'm glad I cheered you up Kidsgran :)
We didn't have thunder or hail here ... but we are further west.

Shirley those are big hailstones!
We had no thunder and no rain either (further west still). I love a good thunderstorm but we haven't had one this summer so far. Its been quite nice here today.
Hywel you made me laugh...

On a positive note,Shirley..your garden looks nice and fresh, and shows up the colours beautifully..and you have nice clean chairs too ! Lol ..sorry,no consolation really though..We had a lovely day again..spent all morning in the garden, and in the Park in the afternoon..but like Hywel,I had my trusty fleece on,as it was a chill wind at times ,especially when you are stood watching a child who never wants to get off a swing ! :o) x

Many thanks for all your comments ... it seems on this little island we live on that the weather changes almost daily!
This morning is a gorgeous sunny one ... perfect for finishing off where I started in the garden yesterday ... :o)

I also loved your garden in the rain, but like you we could do with a bit of summer, managed to cut the grass this morning,it was so long it took ages,I also had to wear my fleece.

Oh dear Shirley, that's not good at all. I hope you didn't have too much damage. I must agree with Sandra though, you garden does look lovely.

I wish I could say it was better here, but it isn't. It is cold as well as wet. Like you I cut the front lawns this morning but the rain returned before I could do the back.

Believe it or not, today has been a dry and sunny one so I mowed and edged the grass.

I heard on the morning news that parts of Scotland were down to 2 degrees last night ... what is going on?!

Heavens only knows Shirley. Let's hope we have an India summer.

Well, 5 days since you wrote your blog & it's still raining here, looks like it's settled over the 'dry' region, we did have almost a day & a half of nice sunshine but that was nearly a week ago now. No hail but two thunderstorms so far.
