Front door pots

I have rung the changes this year with the plants in my blue pots either side of the front door.

Each has an Agave in the entre, with Lysimachia Aurea, Helichrysum Gold and Nepeta trailing over the sides and Pelargoniums around the Agave.

Red is a colour I steer away from in the back garden, but it makes a statement in the front pots I think. I am disappointed to find some pink Pelargoniums in with the red though, as they were sold to me as all red!

Gosh don't they look good especially against the white wall

I love them too :O) shame that some have turned out not to be red, don't you just hate that when plants are labelled incorrectly, it is so annoying when you are trying to keep to a colour scheme. Think the only answer is to grow our own from seed. But they do look lovely and those pots are a lovely colour. :O)

Looking really good Shirley. I love the combination of the red against the blue :)

Your pots are very eye catching. I like the contrast between the bright colours of the pots and plants, and the white walls. It looks sort of Mediterranean :o)

Thanks for all your lovely comments everyone ... I gave up with GoY yesterday as it was so slow and I was staring at a green screen for ages! Seems back to normal speed this morning ... :o)

Glad to know it's back to normal for you. It's such a nuisance when that happens :(

I thought it was just my laptop,Shirley..it was slow right from Wednesday evening, and most of yesterday...it seems ok this morning..:o)

It was so frustrating Sandra ... just a green background with the ever spinning circle going round and round! Seems fine now at 12 noon on a very hot South coast ... amazing thunder at 01.15 and 03.30 today ... too hot for me to be outdoors until later.

That's all I had too,so I just gave up as a bad job..We haven't seen any sunshine at all today.just thick grey cloud, a few spots of rain first thing..It was quite cool, but has steadily got warmer..Really fed up of looking at the forecast,as it has been giving Thunderstorms and torrential rain for today, all week..so we didn't bother going out..now,it's not due till early morning around 5am ! just a waste of a day..:o(..boring !!!

18 Jul, 2014

Well I hope today is a more productive one for you Sandra! We had yet more thunder and lightning last night, not much rain though and it's really muggy today. Just looked at photos of lightning off Brighton and Hove seafront, amazing patterns!

The thunder and lightening almost passed us by,Shirley, about 4am ..so R said ! He only saw it over the town, but I was oblivious lol. Still raining heavily, but what i call good garden rain,if you know what I mean..Said to clear up later, but it's very grey and misty..It will be dry inside the pub for lunch,at least..no way are we staying in all day again.I saw photo's on the news this morning..spectacular shots ..x

Your pots look lovely, so bright and fresh and stunning against the white wall.

Very nice pots Shirley, I love the pink Pelargoniums, I think they soften the harsher tones of the adjacent red ones. I like the idea of an Agave as a centre plant, I would never have thought of doing something like that before started hanging out in here at GOY.

Thanks Jane, they are loving all this sunny weather. :o)

Outlander, I have had these pots for about 4 years now and whatever I put in the centre end up eventually in the back garden! I have had Hebes and Coprosma, all of which are now in the borders, so those Agaves will be planted in the gravel front garden one day. I have gained so much gardening knowledge from GoY over the past 4 years, wonderful site! :o)

Pots look great Shirley_t. I agree with Steragram ............ " very bright and cheerful". A lovely welcome for your visitors!

Thanks Alan ... I have just come indoors from watering them ... they dry out in this hot weather very quickly. Not that I'm complaining about the sunshine! :o)
