and anyone else who likes the sea!

I should have titled this blog ‘A grey day in LA’ (that’s Littlehampton, West Sussex!) as the sun disappeared almost as soon as we began our walk!

We began strolling along the walkway by the side of the river Arun … one of the fastest flowing rivers in Great Britain … the river flows out into the English Channel and the tide was coming in fast this morning.

Some of the ground floor riverside apartments have pretty gardens …

As usual, the Swans think everyone has food for them … out of luck today though

The ferry boat has been re-instated after a few years absence … now it’s possible to cross the river over to West Beach and be away from the ‘Kiss-me-quick’ side of LA … just lovely sand dunes and barely a pebble to be seen … my kind of beach!

Let’s follow this boat as it heads out to sea

Marine craft must keep within the markers as they leave the river for the sea … maximum speed of 3 knots …

At last we have reached the sea … there were quite a few folk on the beach … not that many in the water though … grey skies overhead kept the water chilly

Sorry the sun was having a rest day!

It's funny, Karen, having been born and raised by the seaside I really do take it for granted ... many Londoners always come down at the weekends and I imagine it must be fabulous for them ... such a complete change from the city ... :o)

Ha ha ha, Yorkshire, so pleased you enjoyed the walk ... no doubt it's one you have taken once or twice before ... what a pity the sun wasn't shining on the water though .....

Thanks to all who enjoyed the walk with us ... the top part of the beach is quite stoney ... not much fun when there's a buggy with child in to be pulled across it ... we saw a few Mums struggling ... :o(

Nice. I like the sea too ...

I'm looking forward to a 'beach day' here - but that will have to wait until the tourists have all gone home - I like my beaches empty!

22 Aug, 2012

I,ve not been to Littlehampton it looks lovely, maybe another year......

Thats a good idea to use shells for.

I love the sea too and would love to live by it!! Maybe one day, in my dreams, would love a riverside apartment. :) Lovely pics. Shirley, weren't you tempted to dip your toes in that water!!

22 Aug, 2012

Thanks everyone for your comments ... toes only get dipped in the Med., Grandmage ... and that doesn't happen very often! ... The local paper reported that tons of rubbish were left behind on Brighton beach last weekend ... enough to fill 87 wheelie bins ... what is wrong with some people? ... :o(

22 Aug, 2012

Thats disgusting isnt it? When our two were little i used to come home with everyones rubbish because my two always picked it up & put it in my bag!! Lol

22 Aug, 2012

what is wrong with people, surely common sense tells you to collect your rubbish and take it home, my step daughter went to Brighton shopping last week and she phoned and said it was packed with people.

23 Aug, 2012

Grandmage - my two (now 29 and 30) still put their wrappers in their pockets if there's no bin around - so I taught them one thing at least! ... :o)

Yorkshire - it's a rare occasion for me to go to Brighton these days ... it's always crowded ... :o(

The sea is always exciting no matter whatever the weather... Enjoyed you pics very much, I miss it living in the Midlands:-)

25 Aug, 2012

Thanks, Ba - the sea was looking good this morning ... the sun was shining down making the water glimmer ... lots of yachts out too ... :o)

Enjoyed the stroll along the beach with you Shirley, could almost smell the sea and the bracing sea air.
Nice to see that your getting out and about.

Maybe it's because we're an island nation, but I find the coast to be a very special place. Thanks for taking us along with you Shirley. :-)

Hi Stroller - it has been a fairly sunny day down here but didn't get down to the beach today - lovely to be feeling so much better now ... :o)

Muddy, I have lived near the sea most of my life, apart from a short spell in Chesterfield, and really would hate to be too far away from it ... it changes with the seasons and can be so tranquil, yet so dramatic throughout the year ... you can tell I love it, can't you? ... :o)))
