Plants in my garden from GoY friends

While I was walking round the garden earlier today, wondering when we will ever get some rain on this bone dry soil, I noticed just how many plants have been sent to me from around the country by kind Goy members.

I thought you might like to share them …

A lovely grass, Hakonechloa Macra ‘Aureola’ from Stroller …

Dicentras, one pink, one white, both sent by Hywel …

Sent by Crissue are a Geum ‘Lady Stratheden’ … and I can see a big fat bud on one the Iris plants she sent me …

Rachelsmum sent me seeds of Welsh Poppy … no orange ones so far (phew!) …

Echinops seed from Bloomer has resulted in this healthy plant …

Seed of Aquilegia ‘Nora Barlow’ and ‘Black Barlow’ were sent by Oddbillie … germinated well and produced the lovely blooms in the pics above …

This Aquilegia was sent as a small plant by Bampy … now it’s tall enough to grow through a Hydrangea! …

Geranium ‘Summer Snow’ sent by Karensusan …

Pansypotter sent this Alchemilla Mollis …

Now you may be thinking that you sent me seeds or a plant which hasn’t been included here … that’s because they either haven’t bloomed or germinated yet … I await their appearance in the future!.

I wonder if, like me, you now see a plant in your garden and think of the person who sent it to you.

Many, many thanks to one and all.

How lucky you are Shirley to have such generous friends, I love the Aquilegia 'Nora Barlow and 'Black Barlow' if you have any spare seeds could I beg a few from you.
I am trying to get as many Aquilegia seeds as poss. I have a long high garden wall and on the out side in the spring I have lovely daffs growing along the side of it but then nothing and my plan was to sow as many different Aquilgeia so I could get some more interest. I hope this is not to cheeky shirley!

What a lovely display they are putting on for you Shirley, I often walk around smiling when I see a plant sent by a Goy friend its so satisfying swapping plants isn't, The Heucheras you sent me are all doing well, they are still in one big pot together but I will be soon planting them on their own ;0))

Thanks ladies ... Jennyh, I shall save seed from all the Aquilegias as and when they're ready. I've set myself a reminder too! ....

Pp, that's good to hear of the Heucheras ... I have left 3 in pots and they are thriving better than those in the ground! ... :o)

You must have been reading my mind,Shirley..I was thinking only yesterday about doing the same as you,and showing gifts from friends ,but I am waiting a bit longer. as yours are further on than mine ..must be an "oop North" thing..:o)...What lovely plants you have...btw,your Nigella seeds are doing ok..only tiny yet,but alive ! and do a bit of searching on your Echinops..I found quite a few snails lurking in mine..put your gloves on ! The lower leaves were looking brown and wizened.( a bit like me after the sun ) ! lol..

Its great Shirley and yes I do think of the people who sent them to me, in fact I became very excited earlier when I saw a new Aquilegia in bloom as it came from Hywel last year, I stood and thanked him...

So lovely to go round the garden and visit old and new friends at the same time ,I am not very good at the latin names of plants but always remember the name of the friend who gave the plant............ so much more personal :))

Lovely gifts to receive. I have a couple of things I've received from GOYers and they have yet to make their presence felt. As soon as they do I will be most pleased to show the kindness of others on this site :)
In fact, I drove 10 minutes up the road to meet Scotsgran and we had a wee plant swap, it was very nice to put a face to a name and see her lovely garden :)

Yes I tend to remember some things I receive, but not what I send. I seem to remember sending you a Dicentra, but didn't know I'd sent two .... but I am pleased to see them doing well with you :o)

Only just catching up with these lovely comments ... been poorly for 48 hrs. but much better now ... :o)))

Hywel, you definitely did send me one of each Dicentra ... I keep a note of sent/received plants/seeds as my memory cannot be relied upon these days ... lol!

Bloomer, thanks for the snail hunting advice, I shall look later on today ... wearing sturdy gloves of course! ...

Jennyh, I don't think it is possible to visit each and every stand at Chelsea in one day ... far too many!

What a lovely blog xx......LOVE the pot with the grass in..:>)

Hi Shirley, it's just good to know you're doing ok, and enjoying your plants....my Iris are all but finished now, but gave a lovely show while they were here...Had a problem with our Geum, baby Caterpillars almost stripped one...by the time we found the culprit...so OH dug them up, cut them back and treated them, and now they're ready to pot up for later planting...
Happy Gardening,
take care x

I think I'll have to keep a note of the ones I send and receive, like you do
.... but knowing my memory, I will forget where I've put it ;D

Motty, I may just move that pot with the grass in as I'd like to see it from the kitchen window ... :o) .....

Crissue, sorry to hear about the Geum ... the main problem in my garden today is the damage from the wind and rain yesterday ... have had to stake up some of the taller plants ... :o( .....

Hywel, I have my 'GoY book' on my gardening books shelf ... OH never looks at those so it shouldn't go missing! ... :o)
