Another garden in November

I think most of us are very surprised at how much colour we still have in our gardens in early November. I am no exception and thought you may like to share the colours with me.

Firstly, for the birds, there are so many Pyracantha berries …

Shades of yellow …

Rudbeckia ‘Rustic Colours’ … a gift from Cinderella … it has been in bloom since July …

Buddleia weyeriana ‘Sungold’ …

Berberis in the garden behind mine … very prickly subject to prune!

A bud on rose ‘Arthur Bell’ …

Pink flowers seem to be going on forever …

Salvia ‘Raspberry Royale’ … kept in a pot all Summer

The first Cyclamen to bloom …

Lace cap Hydrangea … I love this one …

A David Austin rose ‘The Mayflower’ which has a wonderful scent … keeps on blooming …

Nerine bowdenii … or Guernsey Lily …

Just one lonely Cosmos! …

Dianthus ‘Doris’ … I don’t ever remember seeing her in bloom in November … I have taken some ‘pipings’ which is a first for me … all looking good so far … fingers crossed they thrive …

This pale pink Hollyhock refuses to stop flowering! …

The peachy patio Rose seems to have have bloomed throughout the year …

This Cosmos ‘Chocamocha’ has been in a pot all Summer … it will be kept in a sheltered spot through Winter …

I shall treat this little purple Hebe with care … grown from a cutting so it’s just a babe! …

Zebra grass …

Viburnum tinus ‘Gwenllian’ …

Viburnum tinus ‘Eve Price’ …

The ever changing leaf colour on the Grapevine …

Thanks for sharing my November garden …

Lovely pictures Shirley. Its amazing whats going on in the garden at the moment. Some plants in my garden flowered again when they only flower once in early summer usually.I hope we don't all suffer for this when winter does finally arrive.

I love all the pics Shirley...but you know what I'm going to say....WOW that grapevine....the border of green around the red and the veins......that is just spectacular. Nicest autumn colour I've seen so far! :))))) love it!

Love it all Shirley - plenty of colour still there

It's an amazing display for November! I think lots of us are really surprised by how much is still growing - including the bulbs. So good to see all these, thank you.

What a beautiful pink Hollyhock, and Nerine, and lacecap Hydrangea, and Salvia . . . amazing Shirley!!

My Cosmos have seeded themselves, and now I've some little ones in flower - it's certainly helping to make the cold season seem just a bit shorter. :)))

Alex ... I love that Hebe too ... taken from a friend's very large specimen! ..... Amazing isn't it, Sheilar? ... Still mild weather ... :o)

Joan, Karen & Gm ... the Grapevine is under attack now from Starlings and Blackbirds! ... I have given up trying to get a pic of the birds ... they just dive in & out so fast! ..... Ojibway ... I noticed tiny green shoots which may be Crocus ... very odd! .....

Terra ... I don't think I have ever had so much in bloom in early November before ... very strange ... but most welcome! ..... San, I think that Hydrangea came from my old Nan's garden many years ago ... :o) .....
Rose, I don't want to think about what this Winter may be like after the last one ... :o( .....
Cazcat, fingers crossed for many berries on your Pyracantha in the future ... :o) .....
Lol, Sheilabub, sounds like you're a fan of Pink in the garden! ... I went out to gather up the fallen leaves & couldn't believe how much was still in bloom ... in the front garden the Lavenders are still going strong ... I don't have the heart to trim them back yet ... :o)

6 Nov, 2011

Very nice Shirley. You've got some colourful autumn plants to enjoy.

6 Nov, 2011

Oh hello, Hywel! ... I'm just so surprised at how mild the weather is ... at the moment anyway! ... I am slowly catching up and shall get round to viewing your Fuchsia blogs properly asap! ... : o )))

6 Nov, 2011

You certainly have lots of colour there Shirley, very nice.

6 Nov, 2011

Wow ... amazing to have all those plants still flowering in Nov. You must be having a mild mid-autumn over there. We are having a wet & windy & cool mid-spring, but about once a week we get a blazing hot day. We had snow in our area for the first time in recorded history right at the end of the winter when the weather had started warming up & there were lots of newborn lambs about. It was called the Polar Blast & it certainly felt that way. Odd weather patterns at the moment.

6 Nov, 2011

It looks amazing,Shirley..I still have bits and bats in flower..Roses and Lavender still doing well..but like yours, the Pyracantha berries are wonderful this year..overall,it has been a good long season,so we haven't done so bad after all..I love your chocolate Cosmos..hope you manage to keep it over winter..:o)

6 Nov, 2011

Still looking great Shirley. I too love the leaves on that grapevine. Love your lace cap too!
Enjoy it while you still can :)

6 Nov, 2011

lovely pictures, how amazing to have so much out still, i love that grape vine leaf.

6 Nov, 2011

Thanks, Cinders ... :o) . . . . . Dwyllis, it has been a poor Summer followed by a very mild Autumn ... feel sorry for those newborn lambs ... not a great start for them! . . . . . Ooh, Sandra, is 'bits and bats' a Yorkshire expressionas opposed to 'bits & bobs' down South? ... I lost a Choc.Cosmos a couple of years ago so fingers crossed this one will survive Winter ... it may have to live in the plastic growhouse for a few months ... :o) . . . . . Scottish, even the grass is still growing ... the lawn was too wet today for mowing though ... :o( . . . . Sticki ... I really am amazed at how many flowers & shrubs are still blooming ... shall enjoy it until the first frost appears ... :o)

6 Nov, 2011

Yes it is,Shirley..but we sometimes say 'bits and bobs' as well..we are bi-lingual,you know ! :o))

6 Nov, 2011

Touche! ... I asked for that one didn't I ? ... :o)))

6 Nov, 2011

Lol...and on that note,I will say goodnight..:o))))

You're absolutely right Shirley - pink is my favourite flower colour. If I could, I'd fill a bed with pink, purple and cream . . . yummy, lol!

7 Nov, 2011

The grapevine colours are magnificent.

7 Nov, 2011

Oliveoil, I wonder how much longer we'll be frost-free? Very grey & dull here today ... :o( . . . . .

Hywel, I've finally caught up with the blogs & have added both your Fuchsia ones to my favourites ... you really do have some beautiful varieties
... :o))) . . . . .

Hi Lincs, I think the best place for molly-coddling plants will be beneath the vine pergola (polycarbonate roof) up against the house wall ... well, they've got two chances! ... :o) . . . . .

Lol, Sheila, there's a plan for you to keep you occupied in the Winter months ... :o)

Annella, the Grapevine is proving to be popular with it's Autumn leaf colours ... the Lacecap Hydrangea is a good 'doer' throughout the Summer ... :o) . . . . .

Thanks, Frybo ... quite a few leaves fell off overnight ... :o(((

7 Nov, 2011

Great pictures Shirleyt...this afternoon in the S.West it has been bitterly cold (after what we've had recently) and very dank and chill. Guess winter is just arriving cos I wouldnt be surprised to see a frost tonight!

7 Nov, 2011

Thankyou, Tet ... I hope you don't get a frost overnight ... our daft cat has just gone to sit out in the misty drizzle (9.20pm) ... but it's not too cold here! . . . . .

7 Nov, 2011
