Shirley how on earth have you managed to grow it without it being eaten completely, my cats even raided mine in the greenhouse last year, big mistake on my part as Ollie knocked over two trays of seedlings that day as well...Great pics...

Sticki ... I think she was quite 'high' in the last pic ... lol!
It's the second plant I've bought, Lincs, as she totally destroyed the first one! I'm thinking of moving it out of that border ... anything nearby will just get flattened by her rolling over it! I bet Ollie wasn't popular that day .........

sounds as if it needs a raised bed ~ just for the cat mint!!

Strange thing about Catmint, but my cats ignore it completely, but then my cats are strange, they won't eat human food !
Fab foto's Shirley, happiness is a cat called Megan on a bed of Catmint !

Hi Shirley - your photos remind me of my cat Thomas who was almost the same colour as your Megan - he used to roll about in the catmint just like that. Unfortunately he is now in cat heaven as he died last year from old age causing his kidneys etc to shut down.

My other cat, Molly, doesn't seem to bother about it much at the moment as she is too busy trying to catch some rats which keep coming into our garden from next doors chicken run. This evening my OH found a tunnel like a rabbit burrow which the rats have built from next door through to us so we shall have to fill that in tomorrow.

What a happy cat your Megan is !

Bloomer ... I was laughing at her too much to have joined her! ..... Pleased you liked the pics, Oliveoil : o )) ..... She's the first cat we've had that's taken a liking to it, Val, but she is daft as a brush! .... Oh, Marie, don't like the idea of rats in the garden. : o((( I'm sure the shed in the garden behind ours has mice in it as Megan sits waiting patiently for hours by the fence ... she's a good mouser despite looking sweet! : o ))

Megan really does like her catmint :) I've never grown catmint so it's on my list to try some this year. I'll see if Lucy enjoys it as much as your Megan.

There is supposed to be catmint on the little toy attached to her scratching post but she's shown no interest in the post, the toy or the catmint. She prefers trying to get away with scratching the chairs & sofa...but to her credit she understands "no" in a louder than normal voice!

Just wondeful Lauram !
We had a cat years ago who used to get 'high' on catmint..but none of our other cats have ever shown the same interest.
Bet you will be glad when Lucy can go out Jacquie ! Won't be long now ;)

Yes, it will be nice when she can join me outside. I have noticed that having Lucy is getting me up at a decent time in the morning....she's like a purring/meowing alarm clock! lol

22 Mar, 2011

Judy, I'm not Lauram ... lol!! ..... Jacquie, Megan totally ignores those Catnip toys but likes the real thing in the garden ... daft cat!! : o )

22 Mar, 2011

lol....I'm in with a chance then....must be sure to plant some catnip in that case, Shirley :)

22 Mar, 2011

But not near any special plants ... they roll around it too much to save anything nearby .. lol!

Flippin eck Shirley...I am so sorry...yet another senior moment !! I was trying to cram in loads of comments etc before going to work..no excuse really.

27 Mar, 2011

Great stuff, isn't it? I'm re-naming Megan as 'Eat & go' as that's all she's done this weekend! Out in the garden looking at the bird feeding station ... grr!

27 Mar, 2011

I was looking for catmint at the Plant Fair today....found some but the stallholder told me it wasn't the compact variety but grew quite high. I was unaware there was more than 1 kind.

I assume the catmint is the ground cover plant in the photo, Shirley?

27 Mar, 2011

It's the low plant Megan's sniffing in the first pic, Jacquie. Would you like me to post another pic for you tomorrow? It's grown a little more, even in six days!

27 Mar, 2011

Yes please, Shirley....a picture would be great. :)

28 Mar, 2011
