I’ve got a new Nikon camera, which I’m trying to master so here are some various photos I’ve taken today. Hope you enjoy and thanks for taking the time to have a look. Sheila

Bought these today for £2.00 each – I thought it was a bargain as the plants on their own must be worth £2.00

This is my Poundshop lilies last week and below …

… the lilies today. I’ll take another photo when they’re fully opened

I chopped down an old honeysuckle which had been poor for the last three years and accidentally chopped my Ville de Lyon clematis. However, a few days later I noticed new shoots growing from the clematis stumps!

And yet some more new growth on the ‘chopped’ clematis

This is a Dollar Princess fuchsia which I thought I’d lost after the severe winter of 2010. It was a bit slow starting but it’s doing OK now. (Sorry it’s slightly blurry)

Oops, these are my size 4 feet!!!

This was a very straggly houseplant geranium which I chopped up and just stuck into various pots. They’ve all flowered – I’m amazed.

I found this butterfly wing on the back doorstep. Poor little thing, I wonder if it can still fly with only one wing? (Sorry another blurry one)

50p pot of petunias – they’ve never stopped flowering

Cooking apples – end of the month they’ll be ready

Heurecha – was one plant, now it’s four!

Spotted leaf begonia (houseplant) which was full of little flies. I’ve put it outside but it’s still got the flies!

Wasp on alium (sorry, you can’t see the wasp properly – I need more training on how to use the macro!)

That’s it folks. I think I’ve done OK for my first blog even though it’s taken me two and a half hours!!!

Nice one Sheila! Keep it up! :))

Not a bad job as its a new camera, I know all about blurry pics Sheila, lol, the times I take a photo of nothing are not worth mentioning.
Its a good feeling when ones plants have filled out enough to split and therefore fill up even more spaces in the garden and pleased your clematis has recovered, you`ve probably done it good even though it was an accident at the time.
Well done on your first blog...

good job well done

Congratulations on your first blog, Sheila, it's very confusing at first as I well remember! I believe our daughter was sitting by my side, with me writing instructions down! Good news on the Clematis thriving again and aren't your Lilies from the Poundshop a bargain! Apples look great too .. :o))

Great minds think alike Sheila...as you have already noticed I posted my first blog too!! Took me about the same amount of time. Great pictures, lucky you with your new camera. I use my iphone but am going to ask Santa for a 'real' camera :)
You have got some smashing bargains there. My clematis 'ville de lyon' has been bashed about for years and unlike the rest bounces right back!!

Thanks everyone for your kind comments. I'm hoping the next blog I do will take less time!!! lol No-one saw the really bad blurry photos I had to delete but I'll get used to the new camera given time.

As regards the clematis, I was gutted when I realised we had chopped it and thought it was gone forever (it had had lots of massive flowers on it this year) and I was overjoyed to see it sprouting. (Sad isn't it getting excited about a plant - I've been out looking at it every day to see how it's doing) It must have layered itself further along 'cos I've discovered more bits sprouting.

Great news about your clematis then, I think there must be something wrong with people like us, who get excited and overjoyed over a plant! If someone had asked me 10 years ago if I would ever get excited over a plant in the garden, I would have laughed my socks off!!!

Ha ha Scottish my kids think I've gone barmy with my gardening fetish they never thought they would see me out in all weather wearing wellies with a big smile on my face:)
Good start with the camera Sheila some nice pictures it will take a bit of getting used to. I was thinking about going to an adult learning short photography course because I have not got a clue.

Well done, Sheila! So what - so you have some blurry photos? We all do that. The answer is: Always take several shots - you can delete the blurred ones. ;-)

You've cracked blog writing - that's great!

I'm pleased to hear about the Clematis - I'd have been upset, too.

You have done very well Sheilar. Looking forward to your next blog.

Brilliant Sheila, don't worry about the blurred one's just delete them. I can't tell you how many I delete before I get the shot I want. Good luck!! :)

Didn`t you do well, not only do you get some fine plant bargains but you have achieved the posting of your first blog with some great photos. I don`t think its sad to feel upset about your clematis it shows how much you care about your garden. Look forward to your next posting.

hahah yeah!

Sorry Sheilar..only just seen this..I was taking a look at your 2nd blog, which led me to this one..you have done a great job with it..we all had to start once, and it is such a nice feeling to see the first one turned out ok,isn't it ?.
you will now be an addicted blogger.! :o))

28 Aug, 2011

After the blog I attempted today Bloomer, I don't think I'll be attempting any more. I uploaded 8 photos in total but I dunno where they went! they certainly weren't on the second blog. I've been on two and a half hours and only managed these measly photos!!!:)

28 Aug, 2011

I remember that well,Sheilar..don't give up,now you have done it a couple of times..It will get easier,as you keep having ago..I still make a pigs ear of mine sometimes..wrong wording on right pic,or vice versa..:o))

28 Aug, 2011

Well that's reassuring Bloomer - at least I'm not the only one that gets it wrong. But it had told me they had uploaded OK, so I went to publish. Then when I went back in to admire my work, most of it had gone. I wouldn't care but I work in an IM & T department in the local hospital, working on computers all day. lol;)))

28 Aug, 2011

Sheila, do you press 'Save & Preview' as you go along with the blog? ... I do that all the time ... to ensure the pics ARE actually on it! . . . . .

28 Aug, 2011

Not sure what went wrong,Sheilah..did you wait till it said," done, ready to share ",after you clicked" Publish" before you went back to look ?..Do you press'Save and preview' as you add each bit,to see if it is loaded ok ?
just a thought ..and no expert,by any means,so struggled a lot till I got things right..so keep at it !! Someone else with expertise might know why you lost most of it..

28 Aug, 2011

Lol,Shirley..Snap !we both thought the same..I am back and forward like a yo yo..Lol.

28 Aug, 2011

Shirley and Bloomer - I keep hitting Save and Preview as I'm going along, but I've never had the "done, ready to share" thing up. Mebbee I'm on the wrong web site eh??? Perhaps the next one will be OK. lol

28 Aug, 2011

I may have got the wording wrong..and I can't check till I publish a blog..but It is something like that..not really being much help,am I ?..I'm sure you are on the right website,Sheilar, just with the wrong person!! Lol.

28 Aug, 2011

This technology - it really is too much when you're getting older, isn't it? My kids could probs do it all no bother.

28 Aug, 2011

I just did a 'test blog' and it says 'continue editing' or 'Publish' if you're happy with it ... so you have two choices, Sheila! ... Keep persevering ... you'll be a 'natural' before long ... :o)))

29 Aug, 2011

Lovely pictures Sheilar and yes I did see the wasp.Only just found your blog.I lost a clematis 4 or 5 years ago and all of a sudden this year it appeared. Its amazing , isn't it.Looking forward to seeing more blogs.

31 Aug, 2011

You should see the clematis now Rose, it's coming on a treat, looks much healthier now than before it was chopped! I was really gutted, thinking I'd killed it, then it just popped up in about five or six different places - I thought there was just one root (in a deep plant pot). Plants are amazing things.
