Pictures for fund raiser

I like a project for the winter months when the garden doesn’t need me so much, and decided to unpack my watercolours. For several years I have only painted once a year – for my Christmas card – so I am a bit out of practice.

But, inspired by our local Adult Education Centre, who have an original idea to raise funds, I decided to have a go. We were invited to collect a free ‘square’ canvas, and use any medium or subject that we chose. All the contributions (hopefully around 200) will be exhibited in December, every one for sale for £20. I’m sure some will be brilliant, as there are several art teachers at the Centre, and many pupils who have been painting for years. So I won’t be surprised if my humble efforts don’t sell, but at least I’ve contributed and had fun!

We were asked not to put our name on our paintings, so that the visitors will have no idea which were painted by their friends and acquaintances . . . it will be interesting to see if anyone guesses which are mine :)

Sheila, what a good idea.... Your Autumnal wood scene leads the eye right through... A simple subject, but effective.

I would be surprised if there was a problem in selling your paintings, Sheila! If we all like them so much I'm sure the customers will! Good Luck, and let us know if we are right!

Many thanks Penny - very positive! They don't bear close scrutiny (better at a distance . . . )

I've begun organising a full day of fund raising to support Yorkshire Cancer Research. One part of the day is a craft fair. I wish you lived closer Sheila, I'd be asking you to participate :-)

Well done Waddy . . . do you have any craft skills yourself?
