A Big Bang!

As I was sitting in the greenhouse this afternoon, sorting seeds I had collected, there was a sudden bang – like a pistol shot. I know what it was, because it had happened a day or two ago, but I wonder if anyone can guess?

Hope that you’re all enjoying the warm autumn sunshine!

Do we have long to wait for the answer? Do you live near an RAF station?

I have heard some seed pods make quite an explosion when they burst ,but not sure I could have mistaken them for a pistol shot. or possibly a breaking branch.
Best I can do.lol

Seed pods from several plants when they explode (some with great force) make popping noise.

Linda, Dawn, Brian and Klahanie, thanks :)

B & K you are on the right lines! There were several ripe seed pods from my perennial sweet pea (Lathyrus) in a tray, and in the warmth they burst in a spiral shape and all the seeds fly quite some distance! It's loud enough to make you jump :)

I'm not surprised, Paul, as it's the first time I've experienced this :))

I've learnt to put the ripe pods in a box with the lid on, Dawn, so that I don't lose too many seeds!
