Just a few Spring flowers on a glorious day!

Such a sunny and warm Sunday, so decided to practise a bit more with the new camera.

This is Cherry Blossom, taken from the window

At last, a clear close-up! I’m grateful to Pimpernel, who told me to “choose food” on the Lumix . . .

. . . thanks Pimms – it really works!

My favourite Primula

Ipheon in tub with Carex

Pinus Mugo amongst bluebells (flowering soon!)

My bonsai Pine . . . maybe Severnside will know which one this is??

I did a little light weeding, then sat on the bench in the sunshine with a cup of tea and slice of coffee cake, and had a go at the crossword . . . what a lovely Sunday! Thank you for joining me. :))

That sounds like my idea of heaven too Sheilabub. You are getting really good results with your camera already. I hope you are pleased with yourself. Maybe we can look forward to a few more blogs from you in the near future? - No excuse now you have that lovely camera!

Hi Poppy - thank you! I'll admit I'm quite enjoying it, and finding it really easy to use (so far). :))

Fabulous pictures Sheila, I said it was the Lumix and not me didn't I. You have a very beautiful garden to play in all summer.

Aaww, thanks Pimms - you gave me the tip!
Hope you are both having a good day too. :))

Thanks Sheilar, Cinders, Ojib and Willi . . . yes, glad I made the most of it, as the forecast is overcast again tomorrow.

How lovely! I shall try 'food' next time too. I often find my macro shots are blurred and generally IA works better. Good tip! :)

Lovely close up of the cherry blossom

Great pictures Sheila :)))

Think it's might be Pinus parvilflora at a wild guess, could you furnish a close up? They are very often used for Bonsai being a Japanese pine.

Superb shots Sheila, especially the close up of the cherry blossom :)
You have some lovely plants in your garden :)

It was nice to join you. I enjoyed it too :o)
Your closeups are very good.
I've got a new camera but hopeless at taking closeups.

Oooh my word . . . thanks for your company and lovely comments Karen, Michaella, Paul, Bryony, Stera, Sev, Scottish and Hywel! Sev - I'll try a "closer-up" when the sun shines again. :))

12 Mar, 2012

Sev - Thanks . . . I think P. parviflora looks right (I Googled it, as you do). I also think it looks ready for a bigger pot!

No problem Sheila, don't forget, pines can't regrow from old wood. I am probably teaching you to suck eggs but that area to the right will remain bare now. All restriction of growth or to make the plant denser is done by removing or shortening the candles only.

:)

I'm grateful for that Sev . . . I'm a complete novice as far as conifers are concerned, so it's great to meet an expert. :))

I'm certainly no expert Sheila, just a little way along a learning curve and not even started compared to people like Bluespruce...

:)

Mine too ... there is a street close by lined with blossom trees ... alternate pink and white ... if it weren't for the cars parked along there I would take a photo ......

14 Mar, 2012

I spent an hour waiting for the Bull finches today Sheila. There were non...Just a big tree now in full blossom. I walked inside the low branches and inhailed such a perfume.........time well spent.

Oh how blissful Pimm's . . . a lovely thought to take to bed with me! I'm all done in tonight . . . but you've given me the idea to cut some blossom and bring it into the house tomorrow. Timely as my wafting hyacinths are just about over. :))
