Sunny October day!

What a gorgeous day today . . . after half-an-hour’s weeding, to prepare a patch for wildflowers, I grabbed the newspaper and sat in the sun. Then I noticed how pretty my view was, so fetched the trusty old camera.

The coppery foreground plant is Loropetalum, which Spritzhenry recommended, with Salvia ‘Peter Vidgeon’, Gaura and Stipa tenuissima beyond. The lovely autumn leaves glimpsed on the left belong to Viburnum ‘opulus’ which I nearly lost last winter – saved by a kind GoYer (possibly Andrewr?) advising spraying with BugClear.
The next photo is taken of the same bed, but I stood further back to include the Rose ‘magic carpet’, blue Campanula and three Heucheras.

It’s still sunny, and I’ve enjoyed the sitting, so now I can do another half-hour’s weeding . . .
Is this the shortest GoY blog ever?!

Thank you very much Sticki, Michaella, Yorks and Grandma. Quite right Grandma, that's what I thought . . . plenty of time for chores when the weather is not so warm!

Absolutely agree with GG...grab them while you can. I have just done my 10minute tour, sniffing my roses. It's been a gloomy miserable day here, but dry, mild and still so can't complain. Went for a walk at Glamis Castle (sorry didn't take camera) and then home through the country roads...lovely! :) Your garden looks gorgeous Sheila...especially in the sunshine!

How nice to see your Loropetalum 'in situ', Sheila! PLEASE protect it when the threatened cold weather arrives, won't you. I lost one last winter, even though I fleeced it, so try more than fleece if it's really cold.Having said all that, yes, I think we've all taken advantage of the sunny days. Your view is lovely - can I come and sit on that seat I can see please?

ahh!! sunshine ! cheerful photos Sheila.

Thank you Bampy. And Barbara, please do come and sit on that seat - any time. It would be lovely to have your company, and you could give me all sorts of useful tips about transforming my garden! Also, thank you for the advice . . . I will keep the Loropetalum cosy.

Thank you Shirley and Clarice.
Definitely room for you on the seat Shirley - how soon can you get here?! We'll make you a drink - I think the Pimm's season is sadly over, so hot chocolate on offer from now on!

I'd be there now, Sheila, to escape the noise of a chain-saw and a hedge-trimmer being used in a garden close by! ... These things should come with silencers .. :o(((

Oooh Shirley, how maddening - and on a Sunday too - what thoughtless neighbours. :((
