John’s garden at Ashwood Nurseries is beautiful, particularly this rocky area.

This is the lake

and a general view. It is only about 3 acres, but inspiring!

Hope you get the chance to visit sometime, Ba!

Many of you will know this nursery in the West Midlands, I'm sure: it's brilliant. John Massey's private garden, behind the nursery, is only open about four times a year, but he also organises lectures, Hellebores being a particular favourite. The next Open Day, the Winter one, is on 5th February.

It's at Kingswinford.

Thanks Sheila, it looks lovely. I notice there are lots of evergreens, just what I need as my garden looks awful at the moment. I will find a way to get there this year:-)

It looks very nice Sheila, love the look of the bark on the last one.

Thanks all. Yes Littlelegs - it might be the paperbark maple (Acer griseum?) but I'm not sure.

Hywel and Janey - it was a long old journey for us too; my OH drove, and it was nearly 3 hours . . . probably why we've only been once!

You're welcome! That's right, Grandma ge - in other words we can visit spectacular gardens that we wouldn't normally have the chance to see . . . like Stickitoffee's in Airsaig in the far north of Scotland. Brilliant site.

Have just found this we bought most of our garden from John Massey, went every weekend for over 20 years!! our daughter still lives in Kinver and when we visit her we always visit the nursery and have breakfast or lunch there. A wonderful place and all the staff are so helpful.
