worn out!

Had our 2 grandaughters today with their mum Rian is 4 and Eleanor is 14 months, and i’m all played out LOL! Below is Eleanor playing Connect 4 with Grandad and winning i think LOL and Rian on my DS (yes MY DS!)

Rian and i went into the garden and she helped me fish out some plants from the pond (sorry forgot camera!) we found a newt and a baby newt and some very smelly mud!!! Rian loves butterflies so we watched some on the Buddleia

Then back inside where Eleanor was wrecking havoc and the lounge looked like a bomb had hit it! But who cares toys pick up but time with the grandchildren is precious so they can make as much mess as they like! Mind you Rian is very good and has been taught to pick up toys. All in all i had a lovely day!

Pleased you enjoyed your day with your grandaughters, looking at the toys in your room, it was what my room looked like all this week when one of mine stayed all week, but he went back home today, dont see this one very often as he lives in derbyshire, like you say toys pick up. and time with them is precious, and now he's gone the room looks quite bare, just pleased in a way i have other grandchildren living close to me, but then there are two others that live on the south coast, so dont see them to often.

Glad you're enjoying time with them SK, they grow up so fast. Had 3 granddaughters stay over last night, I spent all evening being a 'patient', cut open, sewn up, bandaged, medicated and generally sorted out! They didn't go to sleep till 11.30 which is well past my bedtime as well as theirs but they still woke at 6.30 :o(( All gone now, house very quiet and tidy(ish) again. Also had a snooze to recover!

Come on you two, even I know that!! It's a Nintendo DS, like a mini computer for playing games on. You can get 'brain training' games for adults to use on it too so maybe......... :o)))

18 Aug, 2009

Oh no thanks Lily, I can't stand those little game thingy's. My eldest has one and its constantly beeping and he's constantly swearing at it (under his breath, where he thinks I can't here him! ! !) Lol :~((

lol. Sorry I know NOTHING about these modern gadgets. I call those disc things you put in the tv CDs much to Beryl's annoyance. Well I can't remember all these letters things stand for these days - pc, cd,
mp-something 24/7 9/11 etc etc . It's all meaningless to me :o) That's how it will stay too !!

18 Aug, 2009

I quite agree with you Ian, horrible thingys. They're good for keeping the grandchildren amused for a while but as for me....well, my brain is beyond being trained I think!

Lily I wouldn't know how to turn one on. I do know about pc's though as I repair them and "Freecycle" them. I just can not abide any of these "gaming" machines X box, Wii (which sounds like something I used to do when I was about six) Playstation, they just stop kids from going out and mixing, learning how to mix with other kids. My eldest is 14 and constantly complains that he has no friends to .........do whatever teenagers do these days but he is constantly in his room with his Wii, playing games! ! !
Sorry rant over. Your grandkids are gorgeous and you should be very proud. :~)))))))))

Well Ian and Hywel I do agree with both of you about both games, technology and the lingo that goes with them. I keep well away from it all if I can apart from the computer and that use is very limited but VERY slowly expanding. I just found out that iplayer is not yet another piece of equipment but a way of watching missed or slept through TV programmes like Gardeners World on the computer. I might find that simple to use and useful but it does mean even MORE time spent on the computer!! :o((
Do you mean DVD's Hywel? I don't have anything to do with them either, only just got to grips with CD's. lol

18 Aug, 2009

Yes DVD - that's it lol. I can never remember the letters. I call them "those flat round shiny things you put in that box under the teli"

Sorry but i love my DS lite!!!! I play scrabble on it LOL and puzzle type games, my son bought it for me for Christmas one year, Rian is allowed on it for 20 minutes when she comes then its back to playing shops, playdough, dressing up etc., (by the way i never have the sound on the music it has drives me up the wall) as long as children don't sit inside all day on them i see no harm, they have to use them at school now so need to be able to use them, ours is limited in time.
