Lily Beetle

Just a warning found my first lily beetle on the emerging shoots of a giant lily in the border this morning, in fact there were 3 immediately squished!!! Checked all other lilies and no more so far, have sprayed plant with ‘Bug killer’, don’t use insectiside unless pushed but i hate these flipping beetles with a passion so its been sprayed, will keep an eye on my other lilies now are they early?
On brighter news plant arrived this morning through the post ‘Salix Hakuro Nishiki’, its only a small plant at the moment but its so pretty £2.99 plus postage from a shop on ebay.

Thanks Sk I will keep an eye out for the beatles, some lilly bulbs have started to shoot in my pots.

I have got hold of some slug huts, they worked well last year so I ordered three more. Just google Slug Hut and the web page will come up.

My lilies are up a good 6ins, keeping an eye out for the nasty red devils.

My least favourite garden pest ... they turn over on their backs to hide their glossy red upper shell ... makes it even harder to spot the little pests!

mine has survived last winter and im very pleased ~ it gives pleasure all summer long.
