On the plot

Welcome to plot 441.

I’ve previously been helping a neighbour with his allotment and in August last year I put my name on he waiting list, obviously not expecting to hear anything for quie a while.

I’ve got a tour around my local allotments today :D very excited! Anyway there was 6 allotments to pick from….3 was more woodland nature reserve than Veg plot, and 2 others to big for me, but the one I chose is just the right size and got myself a FREE greenhouse :).

Any advice on what you think can be done with it would be great, also there is a couple of big sheets of glass next to the greenhouse so me and my grandad will cut them up to replace he missing bits.

P.s look at all those free terracotta pots, I feel some plant displaying coming on.

EDIT: im on the laptop now so can upload pics :D

Lucky lucky you :)
We (our residents association) are in the process of trying to convince the owners of a plot of land in the village to turn it over for allotments. Although we don't hold out much hope - there is going to be no harm in asking :)

Well he has been knocked back for planning permission and it used to be a 'nursery' so soil must be good!!
I used to work for the guy who owns the land when I first left school and personally - I don't hold out much hope!

2 years is nothing Bilbo...Trouble is here that although they are council owned. They are run by the Allotment holders and they do the allocating, so it pays to know a man who knows a man..........

We have friends who live in central London in a tiny basement flat, and last year they managed to get an allotment. They (rather shamefacedly) admit they use it as an excuse when there's something they don't want to do. Shopping with in-laws? Sorry, we have to get the allotment ready for planting potatoes. "What's that, Gran? I'm sorry, I can't hear you - the reception's dreadful down here at the allotment!" Paint the livingroom ceiling? I'd LOVE to, but I have a ton of rubbish to dig out of the allotment - moan, moan. We've got you allotment owners sussed - we aren't daft!
