I think your obsession with Choisya may be unhealthy lol,

Perhaps you should call him 'Miss Wilmott' next time you see him. :-)

Couple of years for a really good i.d. I think.

Don't know how successful cuttings would be. Imagine that unless they have warmth, they will just sit cold in winter and probably rot. The plugs we get in are fairly young thin shoots which looking at more older established ones and your picture, aren't produced very abundantly. Perhaps if it survives sping and you can cut it back, it may throw up a load more softer younger stems to propaget from...

On question - What is it please?

LOL. Don't we all, Sbg!

Oh well SBG time will tell I guess

Will have a look tommorrow and see if there's any seed left on it, you're welcome to some if it hasn't blown away in all the wind, let you know tommorrow, if you don't already have it of course, a picture of it on my pictures first page I think. Know what you mean about space never enough room, lol, I keep digging up more grass, just tell hubby its less grass for him to cut, lol.

Its amazing how much pleasure a surprise like that gives you isn't it? More than if you just plant it and wait for it to grow.
Nice splash of colour too.

Lovely plant, grew hastata rosea from seed last autumn, love it :-)
You've reminded me, I forgot to collect seed off it, may look see if any left on though as haven't cut them down yet, more for the seed box, bit obsessive about seed collecting, lol.

Gorgeous colour, love these, started off with 'firetail' given to me by my dad years ago, bought a couple last year at Malvern 'Pink Elephant' which is doing really well and 'Neofiliformis' also doing well, but certainly not as good as yours, wow thats some spread in such a short time, lovely :-)

The stems look quite thick? How about Sorbus sargentii??

Does look like a Rowan but not a common one, try Hupeh Rowan, sorbus hupehensis, just to put a spanner in the works.

Plectranthus Silver Shield, not hardy as mostly a summer bedding plants, but may survive if placed somewhere frost free and kept on dry side. We grow loads at nursery every year to sell. they grow huge if kept frost free. Lovely big soft furry leaves. The fine hairs gives them a really fine texture, and when it gets wet, they look green, but soon dry out to be furry again.

On question - What is it please?

Great Surprise

I dont know the variety but I have hops growing wild in my back hedge. I have made splendid beer using them and the smell in the kitchen when you dry them slowly in the oven is almost as intoxicating as the beer itself. Tell him to get going, once established hops are difficult to remove so plenty of excuses to make lots of beer.

watch this space

great find sea,, and good on your neighbour for sending them your way

this might sound daffed to you experts' but could it be an acer somthing like japonicum vitifolium, vine-leaved full moon maple ???

Look like a Rowans to me SBG just the way they start growing :-)

And what a lovely neighbour, knowing you wanted some and doing that without your knowledge.

It looks like rowan to me. Are there any trees nearby, the seeds don't tend to travell very far unless carried by birds.

I'm not sure what it is - are the leaves grey or is that mildew on them? It looks like a Salvia of some kind to me.

On question - What is it please?

That was a supprise finding that, and finding your neighbour had just thrown some and they took.

Yes, but I dont think it is? Rhus? I think it may be shrub will put my thinking cap on

I don't remember there being so many good 'real' ales as we have today. Hope he gets it right.

When I lived in Kent my neighour had a hop as a climber it was everywhere!! they certainly grow and the pubs hang the hops over the bar. Afraid In dont know how you make into beer though.

Is his garden big enough to grow the barley?

this is a good site with the relevant answers you seek.
